Tried getting Sierra Madre comp, just gave up.

Post » Tue May 11, 2010 7:12 pm

I thought a high luck was supposed to give you a nice edge, stack things in your favor a bit. I'm playing with my Luck at next to none, and going through Blackjack, the entire game is [censored] rigged. The dealer draws 21 after [censored] 21 after [censored] 21. If not that, I keep getting 13's, 14s and other high numbers, and the only card I ever draw from the pile is 10s 10s more 10s and face cards. The dealer draws 5s, 2s, aces, 7s, why the hell do I never get low value cards? Why do I always draw 10s? It's not even gambling, it's just losing. On my high luck files, it's the other way around, I draw 21s, and all this other magical stuff the AI pulls on me.

That's not even gambling, it's just free caps for high luck users. I just can't get over how rigged this entire thing is. I think the only way I can actually get this comp is by saving every time I win, which is an incredible feat.

Thanks for listening.

Interesting little bit: I've been playing Blackjack for 40 minutes now, my winnings have been sitting at "1399", haven't won a single game in 40 minutes.

Doubling Down always works better than drawing with high luck.

It isn't luck, it's evil. If only you were there to see the horrors......

Yeah, I give up. Still haven't one. [censored] dealers keep getting 21s, and I keep getting 42s and 65s

How frustrating do you think this will be for a Luck 6 character? I'm thinking of doing a DM run soon, and getting all the stuff I missed with my guns/explosives kill 'em all playthrough.

If luck wants to play dirty, then so should everything else! If you don't meet a strength requirement, the weapon should be unusable. If you have >5 agility, you should have a 50% chance of screwing up a reload and have to do it over again(you can fail that too), catch my drift?

I don't think you realize how incredibly frustrating my situation is-I'M EVEN CHEATING AT THE GAME! (save every time I win, and reload when I lose)

Bapitty: I think at 7 luck, things start to go smooth. Expect a few bumps, it will be somewhat against you, but the games won't be rigged.

Yeah, with Naughty Nightwear, I had 7 LUCK, and the casino trophy was pretty easy to get.

having 10 luck means your are among the luckiest people in the entire world, having 1 luck means you are among the unluckiest in the entire world. Of course you are going to bust most hands or have the dealer catch a 21 if you have 1 luck. I'm not really sure what you expected to happen here but saving/reloading is the only way to make money gambling with 1 luck.

I understand what you mean, but then how do you gamble? At Luck 1, you are just forking over all your caps. At 10 luck, you are just getting free caps. Where is the authentic gambling spirit in that?

I agree. It shouldn't be stat based, it shouldn't matter what your luck skill is.

2 things:

1) The "authentic gambling spirit" doesn't account for the uber-lucky or unlucky. If you have a 1-2 or 9-10 luck, you're the weird one. You are outside the "normal" range and shouldn't expect an "authentic" experience at luck-based endeavors.

2) Have you ever actually been to Vegas? Do you understand what an authentic gambling experience is in Vegas. Basically: you lose. All the games in Vegas are weighted towards the house. Every. Single. One. If you actually make money in a Vegas casino, you are very lucky. A person with average luck (5, in game) will likely lose all of their money, if they keep playing.

So when you get your butt kicked, you've just had an authentic gambling experience.

P.S. If I was extremely lucky in real life (equivalent to 10 luck in game) you'd best believe my skinny butt would be in Vegas, raking in the free caps... err, dollars.

Yeah, but if your Luck is 10 then you have created disadvantages for yourself somewhere else. Caps ain't everything. It all balances (sorta).

I don't bother gambling until my Luck is 7; then it's Blackjack. If you're careful and play smart you can rake it in.

If you went into a casino on the real strip and started playing Blackjack at the level of proficiency that 10 luck gives you they would ban you even faster than they do in the game. Then you'd be getting your butt kicked by actual guys with tire irons.

It wouldn't be that fast, as your Luck 10 wouldn't give the tell tale signs of card counting. You'd win a lot of money while they scrambled to figure out how you did it. It go more or less like it does in the game, your suddenly banned from gambling and the only thing to do is cash out and leave. Unless your caught cheating. (and card couting is not legally considered cheating). The casino is obligated to let you cash out. If they think your cheating, they'll try and get evidence to prove it before they ban you, that way they can confiscate your chips. If you had a real life luck of 10, not only would it be a while before they decied to cut there losses and just ban you, it be a while before they discovrered your winning streak, as afterall your so lucky.
