Triple Release: Ebonheart Orphanage, Linking Books, mPod

Post » Sat Jan 29, 2011 4:35 am

I have three mods ready for release. Please see the following links.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8729

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8730

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8731

Please download and enjoy!

The orphanage requires Children of Morrowind, is just north of Ebonheart docks, and allows the player to adopt children.

The mPod is sold by Thongar in Khuul. You will need to set up the music folder with your own favorite music, instructions included.

The linking books are hidden one in each town, and each will teleport you to its town. Drop, read, and take to teleport. Vivec has two books, one in Foreign Quarter and the other at Temple.

Recommended =)

Have not tried it yet but simply your dedication to these makes it worth the effort. Will try them out next time I'm playing the game =)

Glad you all like it. I have two more mods in early concept, but one is kind of big in scope, next release should be somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Do not download the orphanage right now. There is an issue with the music being illegal and I don't want to get in trouble. As soon as I find a suitable replacement I will reupload.

Okay, having trouble finding replacement music. I'm putting a call out to the forum community for help. I need to find a piece of music that meets the following three criteria:

1. The music has to be in the public domain, have an open license or "copyleft." If you find one please send me a link.

2. The music should make the listener think of children. No battle music, fanfare, etc.

3. It has to have a cinematic/ orchestral/ adventurous feel so it doesn't sound out of place in the Morrowind world. I will reject pretty much anything that does not feel like it fits with the rest of the basic Morrowind music.

For the record, the original music track is "Concerning Hobbits" from the Lord of the Rings movies. It evokes the intended atmosphere perfectly. No other music I've encountered so far even comes close.

No midi to mp3 conversions. Quality of those tends to be inferior, and usually doesn't sound real.

The person who sends me the link to the perfect music will have their character avatar made in one of my upcoming mods as an NPC.

I can't just delete the custom music because I don't feel the regular Morrowind adventuring music is appropriate in the facility, just my opinion.

Please and thank you!

I'm not very good at finding music for other people, but you might want to check http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/index.html?keywords=Pennsylvania+Rose&Search=Search song out. I'll keep looking for some more.

http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/index.html?keywords=the+Parting&Search=Search another one, I think I like this more than the first one I found.

Edit: For the second link, I didn't realize there were more than one song on the page. I was intending to show "The Parting."

The western one was nice, though it's not long enough to be usable. The other one was way too slow. Good music though. I admit that It is a difficult environment to match in music, I actually almost had a replacement last night until I realized the composer was John Williams so had the same issue.

Ok, guess I'll keep looking. I know you wanted the song to make you think of children, but I wasn't sure how happy you wanted it to be.

http://www.thebardstale.com/music.htm are some free songs that wouldn't all fit, but I think the "title" track(1st track listed) would be pretty good, and since they are posted by the creators for all to share, I'm pretty sure that makes them part of the public domain.

The bard thing makes me think more of taverns than children. It could work in the situation that nothing else turns up, but I would much more likely put that in a mod where I make a tavern or inn.

About the daggerfall comment, two questions are where can I find it, and is it legal considering bethesda doesn't want stuff from their games being used for their other games?

Just go over to PES and look in the music section and you'll see the Daggerfall music. ;) While you're there, check out Bosa's stuff; it's epic. :D

The stuff was good, but not appropriate for the project. I'll probably use some of it for future projects though.

I guess I should clarify: I'm basically looking for a tune which is similar to the original selection (Concerning Hobbits) without being illegal.

"Peter and the Wolf" by Prokofiev is public domain. You may have difficulty finding a full symphonic version free for download, however.

Found a bunch of Peter recordings, none without narrator except a pop version which wouldn't fit. In the meantime, while this is being resolved I posted a comment on the download page saying not to copy over the file for now until the music is replaced.
