Trolls still have 3 eyes?

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 1:45 am

I know this is really random but I was watching this video on the cave trolls on Game Informer and I can not tell if they still have three eyes personally I always thought that made them look dumb I hope they will have 2. Lol but seriously they look really imposing in this and I can only hope enemies that look this imposing will be quite difficult enemies and rewarding to defeat.

Oh and here is the new video from GI it's very interesting I think you will like it! It's basically the long term process of them finishing the Skyrim Cave trolls concept art.

Yes this is a really random topic but my OCD kicked in on this.

well, it really looks like and eye. and honestly, I wouldn't mind if they looked dumb. why? because an average orc would look like einstein when compared to a troll. troll are SUPPOSED to be dumb lol

Yeah Looks like an eye to me too. Also why do trolls have to look dumb? they should look ferocious in my opinion judging by how many variations of trolls there are throughout movies and games. Honestly I hope this game is dark and more realistic instead of cartoony and Humorous. Not that it was ever that humorous just saying I hope things look awesome not funny.

They definitely look way cooler than in Oblivion. It's looking like it will be pretty realistic and darker.

Trolls have 3 eyes in the concept art and in the screenshot in the GI magazine. So yes, they will have 3 eyes again.

The trolls in Oblivion look just like the trolls in Redguard, I'm glad they've updated them some for Skyrim.

I liked the third eye, it made the trolls look more unique, instead of just another generic fantasy monster like... oh, every single other creature in Oblivion. So I do hope they keep that, and if the images shown of them have what appears to be a third eye, than I'd say they have three eyes.

Though for some reason the cave troll looks to me like what you'd get if Kaarstag (Not sure if I spelled that right.) in Bloodmoon and Oblivion's trolls had a baby.

Yeah they look great! And the video was amazing, I find game production so interesting even small things like that.

Trolls definitely look more menacing in Skyrim then they ever have before.

What else other than the Minotaur looked like every other fantasy monster? Maybe the imp and even then it's quite a bit different than I remember it in any other fantasy game. I mean wisps are gas like creatures like in other fantasy settings but they look different in their own right and do things that the other wisps done. Land Dreughs are unique. Spriggans. The undead had their own way about them and had the creepiest wails from a wraith *shudder* I mean, there isn't much of an undead assortment to pick from since every story in centuries past has used some incarnation of all the possible typical undead. I know I'm forgetting some other creatures from Oblivion but oh well.

Think about it this way OP. You hate these three eyed trolls so much, now you have a reason to kill all of them.

Generic ghosts, zombies, and goblins, and all the generic wildlife.

Oh and the stupid unicorn of course.

The troll look awesome definately looks darker thsn Morrowind and Oblivion it looks more primal as well I love the new look. The three eyes is not an issue for me it makes it a part of this world not traditional fantasy if you will I however find the new design more inspired and animalistic and that is a plus.

Like I said, there isn't much more you can do for undead, I don't see how you can call wraiths and ghosts generic when there isn't anything else you can do with them. Goblins, yes typical thing in fantasy, I forgot about them but goblins are a well rounded creature. As for the generic wildlife? Really? Your really going to call animals that are from the real world generic? You know what, I think humans are generic, because we are animals and we exist in real life. OMG, TES uses generic races, because they are all humanoids and humanoids are generic because they exist in the real world. I can't believe someone really thinks that wildlife is generic and boring, that just shows you how out of touch some people are to nature...

Settle down a little on the bestiary of Oblivion. Many of the creatures are a tribute to Arena, a couple (like the imps and flesh atronachs) are from Daggerfall, and a ton of the daedra are from Battlespire, with the trolls and goblins being similar to Redguard. They were trying to make Oblivion's bestiary a reflection of the entire Elder Scrolls experience thus far, don't bash them for remembering their past. While unicorn horns had existed as items in the Elder Scrolls series before Oblivion, there had never been a unicorn in the games. It's quite lore enhancing to have some in game for once.

I liked the creatures, its also good they wanted to remember their past and tribute their work its good to remember thing you have accomplished. The unicorn in game I think was awesome as well.

Well, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to refer you to Morrowind.

More original undead: bonewalkers, corprus stalkers, bonelords, and ash zombies/slaves/ghouls. Each with their own unique lore, not just generic zombies.
And the real world wild-life was the rat.

Just because Cyrodiil is the capital province doesn't mean it needs to be more like earth.

The troll in the concept art looks like a really mean creature. Also I never noticed trolls in Oblivion had 3 eyes, guess I never looked close enough.

I actually really liked the design of the trolls in Oblivion. Very ape-like as opposed to the bi-pedal goblins, orgres, minotaurs. I'm glad that (it looks like) we will be getting several variety of trolls (cave, ice, etc)

I was disappointed to realize that the monster in the screenshot had a third eye, as that meant it was a troll and not a werewolf. It also scares me because besides the 3rd eye, it would have made a perfect lycanthrope, and I can't imagine they'd use super-similar builds on two monsters, which mean their might not be were-beasts.

I think the oblivion trolls were cool, I think these ones look more adapted to Skyrim's harsh environment. They also look like they shouldn't be messed with hahaha. Just imho.

Wow that's great I did not know that, Variety is never a bad thing!! I really hope they will put werewolves back in. Hopefully the werewolves will look very similar and imposing hopefully with a more wolf like face though.
