Trophies/Achievments?

Post » Sun Jan 30, 2011 6:55 pm

I use a PS3 and I would say that I don't really need them but I do enjoy them. For me it gives me yet another reason to do different things in the game.

They were there in FO3, and in New Vegas. Safe to say they'll be in Skyrim.

And I do want them, I like em.

I could live with them or without them. I just hope they make the notifications pop up during a loading screen. Nothing breaks immersion more than a little message telling me that I just killed the final boss.

Ive never been bothered by the achievements popping up, sure I like to be immersed into my game but I'm never so much so that I forget I'm playing a game.

Every Xbox 360 game (except the games for old Xbox) has achievements... I think it's pretty rewarding. :)

I don't know how PS3s do achievements, I'm getting one though. As long as it doesn't pop up very often it doesn't bother me at all. Also I do love them, it's one of the only reasons I bought 360 games.

The PS3 has a little bubble that pops up in the upper left hand corner and they have bronze, silver, gold and platinum trophies.

Another reason I asked is because they were excluded from the PS3 version of Oblivion.

Every game that comes out these days is expected to have trophies or achievements. Which only until recently, I did not care about

What's with the "I use a PC" option as if playing on PC rules out achievements? PC games have these obnoxious, useless "achievements" just like the other platorms. Fallout 3 had'em on Games for Windows Live, New Vegas had'em on Steam, etc.

Well you can create your own achivements to follow like:

Suicide in 20 diferent ways.
kill a 100 rats with a dagger
kill a 100 rat with bow
collect toghether 50 full set of glass armor
fall from a cliff and cast featherfall at less than a metter

so well, its just a matte of imagination and self drive.

A plead: TES is already plagged with enought dumb mass cathering ideas, half assed tech achievements, dont add more, or if it continue that way, we will be able to play it with an atari joystick.

Oh dear...
I didn't know that.

Anyway I hope they don't have achievements. I think the player should decide what goals to achieve for himself.

I use PC though so... as long as they're off the PC I'm :)

Yep, developers don't restrict gimmicks by platform. 'Course my vote remains the same: "No I hate trophies\achievments" :D

I don't want a pop up with an achievemnt when I'm really immersed in a game. I don't mind them in counter strike or something like that, but I don't think they fit in Skyrim

You can always disable the pop up. You will still get the achievement but it wont pop up while playing the game. I personally don't mind. When I am playing a video game, I know I am playing a game so it really doesn't break immersion all that much. Besides i like getting harder achievements that not that many people have, hopefully Skyrim will have tougher ones than Oblivion.

Achievements and trophy's are mandatory im afraid. As long as there are not achievements for romance (if they add it) im a happy Legionary. :tops:

I don't really care about achievements.. Most of them you get from going through the story.. and then they have challenges.. the challenges have always annoyed me. Even if I explore an entire map and do everything I want to do in game there are still usually some ridiculous challenges that I'll never complete.. which weirdly makes me feel like I haven't completed the game. It always comes down to me having to contemplate.. "Do I really need to eat 5000 apples, kill 10000 enemies with my left hand or Find the ten stepping stones of Juharti and jump on each one 11 times?"
