I finished the quest Darkness Returns and selected one of the three powers available to an agent of Nocturnal. I thought it would be interesting to switch the power and see how the others work but I can't get past the inner sanctum (the well won't open, I just stand there looking at the key hole for the skeleton key). There's a tiny message in the upper left-hand corner but I can't read it (not playing on a high-def TV). I was wearing my Nightingale garb though I believe I got rid of Gallus' journal. You are allowed to switch your Nightingale power once every 24 hours, aren't you? Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thank you!

Sorry I cant help except to say non of nightingale powers are much use anyway.

No worries - thanks for checking. I've currently got Agent of Shadow which can get you out of a tight pinch *if* you remember to use it. I thought Agent of Subterfuge might be useful as well (especially for the extra jobs in the Thieve's Guild quest line). Unfortunately, I'm almost done with the extra jobs so it's kind of late to benefit from two minutes of 'invisibility' while sneaking each day. I just drank potions...
