Trouble getting Bolar's Oath Blade.

Post » Sun Jul 08, 2012 1:20 pm

So I really want this sword. I'm not playing the main quest (I don't even want to start it because I'm so sick of constant dragon attacks) and I believe this is the only katana I can get without the MQ. It's in Bloated Man's Grotto but unbeknownst to me if you go there for the Hircine quest to kill Sindigg it's not there (for some reason).

I read the wikki and it says you just have to wait for 30 in game days and it will appear. It's unclear whether you must kill the werewolf or not, so I let him live. I came back 30 days later and it's still not there, neither is the satue of Talos, although the chest has reset.

So my question is should the blade be there if the werewolf is still there or do I have to kill him? I don't want to wait another 30 days so I won't bother killing him either way. Are there any other one handed katans that I can get without the main quest or that one guy at that inn (forget his name). Don't really want to murder him just for a sword.

Thanks.

Note: I did a search on the topic but it was unclear if the blade would appear while the werewolf still lived.

somewhere there is a thread on this already.

You can go there at any time but I suggest going when NOT having the Hircine quest active or even in your quest log. The place is accessable at all times. If you do the quest and go in there, the shrine is destroyed. However if you wait a bit and then return, it will be there but I hear its glitched and hard to find.

If you have begun the quest for Hircine, you just need to complete it and wait a few in game days and then return.

recent thread.

The only way I got it was before hirceines quest it never came back on other characters or you could just do the first few things for the main quest and there is one on the wall in Delphine's little basemant room

you need to start the main quest... ie: activate dragon appearance in order to get into Delphine's basemant. the OP is trying to avoid that.

Or if your on the PC you could console command it to yourself.

You're right, the link to the uesp wiki says you must kill the werewolf for the cave to reset, I hadn't seen that. That's what I was asking. Everything else I'd read it was unclear, including the other wiki article that I read at the time. If that had said "You must kill the werewolf for the cave to reset" I would have done so, then I could have got the armour as well. Oh well.

I have to echo one of the other posts, why did Beth put such a cool item in a location where it could so easily be screwed up.

I went back for it months after skinning Sinding. It was right where it was supposed to be.

Huh, I've logged nearly 1000 hours over multiple characters and I've never even heard of this weapon. Is it a quest item? Because it's not listed in my Prima strategy guide. :/

Prima strategy guide... .
It's at the feet of the Talos statue inside Bloated Man's Grotto, along with Bolar's journal.
