Trouble With Mod Manager

Post » Sun Apr 18, 2010 10:37 pm

So, whenever I try to install FOMM I get this message:

C:\Users\Amy\AppData\Local\Temp\fomm_0_10_2-640.exe could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.

Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location.

What's the problem?

If your on Vista or 7 you need to run the installer as Administrator. Click on it then click Run As Administrator. What it is, is the program doesn't have permissions to edit that folder, so windows thinks its a virus or something and blocks it. Running as Admin will fix this.

I don't have the option to run as administrator when I right-click it.

What do you mean? Are you on windows vista/7? When you download it, extract the EXE somewhere you will remember. Then go there and right click on it and you should be able to run it as admin. Are you logged in on an administrative account on your computer? (You are by default if its the only one)

Alright, this is embarrassing that I have to ask this... How do I copy the exe and put it in a different folder.

I'm not a very tech savvy person.

When you download it, click SAVE not run. Then pick a folder you can remember, like for me its C:Downloads. It is not actually in a zip or anything, so you can skip the unziping and moving step. Then find it in that folder you picked for it to save to, if your getting the latest version it should be called 'fomm_0_10_2-640' just right click on that file and click Run as Administrator. It should be like the second option. Then it will ask you yes or no, click yes then run it like normal and it should be fine.

If I were face to face with you, I'd give you a big kiss on the forehead!

Thank you so much for your help. Now since I have your attention. Any good mods you recommend for a starter? :hehe:

Eaahhh!! D: lol. No problem :)

As for mods, that depends. What kind of changes are you looking for in the game? Also, have you played through once or twice without any. Do this first, it lets you get used to the basic game, and makes any mods you add seem so much better, because you know just how much some of them add.
