Trouble with side's EAX

EDIT: Discovered this is NOT a problem with Side's mod, but with the OblivionEAX.dll - still unsolved, however!

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get EAX in Oblivion. First, my specs:

Windows 7 64-bit
4gb DDR2 Ram
ATI Radeon HD5750 512mb
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio

I do have OBSE installed.

I've downloaded Oblivion EAX Beta 2 Updated and placed OblivionEAX.dll in Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins.

Then, I downloaded Side's EAX Control Version 1, and placed the esp in Oblivion\Data and the ini in Oblivion\Data\Ini.

Once ingame, I acquire the tuning fork, and am able to bring up the menu and make changes with it. Unfortunately, I am not getting any EAX.

I have tried a few zones (cave, ruin, tamriel, imperial city), but no luck. I've also tried console commands "initeax" as well as "initeaxenv -1 25" (and variations) but still do not get EAX.

I get EAX in other games (most recently being "The Witcher), and do have Creative Alchemy installed. Any ideas how to get this to work, or will I (unfortunately) have to pass on this mod?

Yes sir. Without Oblivion added to ALchemy, when I use the Tuning Fork it doesn't bring up the tweaking menu, it just says something along the lines of "Close Inventory when finished making adjustments", and no other window pops up.

EDIT: I'm guessing it's an issue with the OblivionEAX.dll and *NOT* Side's mod. With the mod eliminated, I am toying around with the console commands for Oblivion EAX tweaks and noticing no difference. However, every time I leave Oblivion with the DLL in my PlugIn folder, it crashes. Remove the plugin, and I can quit without a crash.

For now, I will remove it. Hopefully someone knows the magic to get this thing to work for me, but if not, then I accept that as the nature of modding - not everything works for everyone.

You might get a better response from Side on his Nexus comments page as he seems to reply to them there.
My speakers aren't working so I only have USB Creative Soundblaster Arena headphones (I guess software EAX or something) so I guess I don't really have the EAX I need for his mod to work.

I've heard of others not being able to use this mod, but it worked right away for me.

In one of my load orders I'm using it.

It may have to do with other settings such as the Creative Control panel or system settings, but if you get it in other games I can't say. Sorry - best of luck getting the author to help too - he was aggressive at best when these concerns came up before.

I use headphones most of the time and I hear the difference with them or speakers.

hi, I have the same OS and Sound Card. For me it started playing correctly when I turn off eax effects at SB panel at all. But I had never problems with this lib. -
my obse log was always clear. But try. If I will check that SIDe eax cont. is implementable to Nethrim (Why not?) and you have still this problem post me to compare logs and OS and SC settings.

EAX effects is off by default in my Creative Console Launcher. I have tried enabling and then playing the game, but this just gives a blanket EAX effect to every sound in the game - there are no dynamics. Turning it off afterwards just disabled that blanket effect, and didn't change anything with Oblivion EAX. I want to note that leaving the EAX effects option "Off" in the console launcher does not effect my ability to enable EAX in other games - I think all the toggle does is provide that blanket effect for... whatever reason. Just to toy around maybe?

What logs did you want me to post?

What logs did you want me to post?

In my opinion you should check:
1.OBSe.log (I'm sure you did)
2.Ob.EAX.log (obse/plugins/
3.turn on debug option of Side's eax... and check the result via ConScribe

I'm sure that leaves something in system diary and I'm sure there is some win7 options ,mechanism giving more precision info (like XP's dr.Watson). Win7 is very new for me but if you want I will try to find something about it (but on Sunday not earlier).
I'm thinking about comparing ,if I can turn on EAX and Side's plug in my new installation successfully, SB,OS settings and living processes. it will maybe give some answer. But ,as I said , on Sunday.

Did you tried turn off uAC and similar (Comodo Defense +) if you have it?

P.S.2
You should check the Alchemy correct found Oblivion path.
It it uses reg. path check is the reg key existed. If not:
1. change it to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\...."
2. or just use HD path instead.
