Troubles patching Bloodmoon

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:35 pm

Hi, just signed up to ask for some help with my issue. I have a new pc which runs Win7 x64 and I've installed the euro version of morrowind, tribunal and bloodmoon. When I applied the patch to upgrade to V1.6.1820 I had the message "Unable to find old file. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." I click OK and then I see the progress bars filling up rapidly (in 1-1.5 secs) and at the end I have the message "Bloodmoon patched". I've looked both around here and on the web, but I've not found a solution. This is what I did in the exact order:
- Installed MW in C:\Bethesda\Morrowind\ and gave setup.exe admin rights;
- Installed TB and gave setup.exe admin rights;
- Patched successfully to V1.4 with the euro patch (seen somewhere here that doing this fixed the error I have);
- Installed BM and gave setup.exe admin rights;
- Patched to V1.6.1820 with the euro patch grabbed at the Beth site (size=425kb so it shouldn't be broken);
- The issue above arise.

I tried to launch the game and I had this in the launcher's data files:
Morrowind.esm
Bloodmoon.esm
Tribunal.esm

I started the game and the version in the bottom left corner was 1.6.1820 and the game loaded fine. I was even able to create a test char and doing all the chargen.
So, am I good to go or should I expect troubles in future? Thanks for your attention!

You're good to go. If you have the Game of the Year edition, it comes already patched, so that may have been your issue with the failure.

I've never had an issue with installing the latest BM patch over the GoTY edition, never seen that message, so I'm not sure that's right.

However, I've never tried the Tribunal patch, which could be where things are going funky. The Bloodmoon installer will install a version of the engine later than the Trib patch, so that one definitely isn't needed.

No, I don't have the GOTY edition. I have a cd that was bundled together with a graphic card and the expansion are two cd that I bought in some shop an eon ago. The manuals are both in italian and spanish so, I think it's safe to assume that it's the euro version.

At first I tried without the Tribunal patch and I had the same problem. Then I searched on the web and I've found a thread in a forum (I'm rather sure it was here) about a guy with the same issue and solving it by applying the TB patch, then installing BM and then the BM patch. Done that, and the problem remains. Maybe I should just redate BM so that it loads after TB and start some modding!

FOUND A WORKAROUND FOR THIS: I menaged to put my hands on an old eeePC with XP and I installed there MW, TB, BM and the patch. Then I copied back the \Morrowind and \Morrowind\Data Files folders. The game loads fine, with the proper load order and correct dates. I guess that makes me the lucky one!
