Truce? What truce?

I can't believe I've never experienced this in my hundreds of hours of playing, but I just triggered a truce quest I'm sure every other Skyrim player in the world has long since heard of.

Anyway, I'm playing the main quest & the jarl of Whiterun wont let me use Dragonsreach to trap a dragon till I negotiate a truce in the civil war questline -- which I've yet to begin (or pick a side). I guess I never triggered the truce quest because I'm usually in a rush to buy Hjerim. But, I digress...

MY QUESTION is this: if there's a truce, does it end the civil war (and remove its questline) or is it tempory? I don't really like the CW questline, but I'd still like to get around to it at some point -- being a completionist/collector & all.

Cheers!

You can continue it after the MQ.

AH your in the same boat as i was in that i never knew of the quest until it was mentioned on here as i never get to the main quest or have completed a big chunk of the civil war questline first.I am told you can resume kicking the other side out of Skyrim after the MQ is complete.

After the truce, you can continue the war after completing the Main Quest. The truce is temporary and as far as I know, doesn't effect the Civil War in any way
