Depends what you mean by truckstop food. Like a truckstop that has a full on restaurant/diner in it? Or like just a basic gas station with wrapped prefab food that comes out of boxes?

If it's the restaurant ones, i like the Husky truckstops here in canada, they even serve old school style milkshakes.

If you're talking about the food you get out of a standard 711 or whatever, then yeah I like 711 taquitos when im drunk, sometimes i get the hotdogs there and throw the chili from the dispenser on it. Just recently 711 has been making those chicken kebab skewer things, those are awesome, especially the hot sauce covered ones.

I also like those Pepperoni and cheddar sticks, that has both a pepperoni stick and a stick of cheese in it together.

Im not a fan of those prefab sandwiches that come out of packages, in fact, i think they are terrible. Absolutely turribul.

haha my thoughts exactly.

I hear if you eat an egg salad sandwich form a truck stop then worms take over your body, fixing it and making you stronger :P

Yeah this. I don't believe I've ever been in a truck stop that I thought had pretty good food. The only food I'd ever eat out of a truck stop comes in bags that are labeled "Lays" or "Wise" or "Frito-Lay"

I'd also discount everything in a 711. I don't think I've ever been to a 711 that wasn't in a slum somewhere. But if you want to talk about gas stations that have good sandwiches then Quick Check makes some pretty good sandwiches but Wawa has much better sandwiches. I sometimes go to either of those places for lunch when I'm on the move and need something fairly cheap.

That's why i was confused on what he was asking. Like actual Truck Stops have full on restaurants (usually mom and pop style restaurants) and are open 24/7. Theres this truckstop in the city i live in, called the Blackfoot Truck Stop, and it's some of the greatest food ever for your value, You can get a full 12 ounce steak sandwhich with mashed potatoes and an old school style milkshake (a real one, not those [censored] prefab milkshake mix ones that mcdonalds likes to sell) for like 12 bucks (which here in canada is a great deal, as i know EVERYTHING in canada costs more then the American counterpart).

Guess I've never been in any real truck stops then. Most I've been in is a gas station that was setup for semi-trucks and had a shower and a McDonald's.

Dinner is served at 7pm. Please don't be late.

Flying J has damn good fried chicken if you catch the right place at the right time. My dad used to drive a truck, and owing to all the times I rode with him I've been around the country five or six times. Good memories.

That's right, i forgot about Flying J. I used to always stop by there in the morning and get some fried chicken and potatoe wedges. Way better then [censored] wrapped prefab sandwiches.

Oh my god how could I forget potato wedges? That was the snack of my childhood growing up in rural SC.

A friend of mine worked as a delivery driver for a while and told me about the parallel world of greasy spoon cafes lurking behind filling stations that were popular with lorry drivers. Apparently they did awesome fry-ups and legendary mugs of tea, but I've never actually had the pleasure myself.

There's a gas station just outside of town that has some of the best bacon egg biscuits I've ever had.

I tend to not eat at places that also sell toxic chemicals.

Live a little. :D

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/truck-stop-buttermilk-pancakes/ taste just like the pancakes you get at truck stops. Fry up some sausage or bacon and bob's your uncle.

Yeah, that's usually what I think of when I think "truck stop" dining. Also, they're often close to or even just off the freeway ramps. Mostly, I just think of the cheap, 24/7 greasy-spoon type place. Heart attack on a plate. Or the slightly less greasy chains like Denny's.

I've never been to one that had "great food" but if I'm hungry and on the road, sometimes I find the greasy eggs, bacon, or omelets or club/pastrami sandwiches quite satisfactory. :D Actually, that's typically all I'll order at places like that.

Convenience stores like 7-11 ... I don't eat anything from there except occasionally a bag of the cheap jerky or an ice cream cone/candy bar. Pre-made sandwiches and the like aren't my thing. Not even from most grocery delis.

"jerky" :hehe:

AM/PM is actually not that bad, and usually has good deals, especially with burgers and corn dogs.

Ooo just remembered something: On a drive to Arizona with some of my folks, we stopped late at night at the https://www.facebook.com/DeathValleyCandy in Beatty, Nv. (It was next to a gas station and a rest stop so that is why I am mentioning it). They had a deli (not Subway), and was more of a small grocery store than a gas station mini mart. They had tons of cool little obscure branded food and drink.

Avoid Sapp brothers at all costs, ( I 70 & 270 ) Worst truck stop food ever. I have seen there sign for years and finallly years ago we gave it a try and spent the rest of theday on the toilet. I always order biscuits and gravey / eggs & hashbrowns, how they made me so sick Ill never know.
I
The absolute best truckstop is Johnsons Corner ( I 25 South of Ft. Collins ), the foods always good. They have giant cinnamon rolls that are as big as your head and they are drenched in icing. Mmmmmm.

http://www.peasoupandersens.net/history.shtml is not really a truck stop, but a road warrior attraction and does get some truckers in California along the Los Angeles- San Francisco route. All-you-can-eat of the signature dish plus the usual family restaurant stuff.

Many years ago, went to a small place it was on the edge of a small town that was on the major truck route into the regional border area, it stayed open late and nothing stayed open late, so i was coming home it was a long trip stopped in and had the best homemade hamburger ive ever had, most of the small truck stops were the places to get decent food, it wasnt till they started opening named chains, and you buy million year old hot dogs, and the food is terrible.
