Been a fan since Morrowind, back in two thousand somethin'..

It was soooo huge and intimidating back then for me, definitly -the- 1st RPG that got me hooked on the whole genre of fantasy in the gaming world.
I always loved the RP element when done right, but TES really sealed the deal for me.

Epic memories.

Daggerfall was my first, and after playing that I tracked down a copy of Arena. Both Morrowind and Oblivion were first day purchases. I don't really have a favourite, but in all likelyhood Skyrim will change that.

Morrowind, sweet sweet Morrowind. I put a good 700+ hrs into that game, then about 300 into OB, Fallout 3, and New Vegas, all on xbox. I can't imagine how long I'd play them if i had mods.

1996 with Daggerfall. It's still an essential install on my computer since. 15 years of great RPG, but the crown might retire with Skyrim.

I first played Morrowind on the Xbox, but i became such a big fan i bought it again for the PC after buying a new video card. I went into Morrowind not knowing anything about TES, the game, or what it was all about. I loved every moment of it too, some of my fondest memories in gaming came from the first week of Morrowind. I played it so much that i gained 8 pounds!!! x.x

Since Morrowind. My first solid memory of Elder scrolls was that nice expensive plate in the office and how to steal it. My second memory of Elder Scrolls was feeling like the best thief since I could take everything else in the room next to the office. My third memory is.... Fargoth...

I don't really think you should consider yourself a true fan if the only TES you played was Oblivion....

I played the Morrowind GOTY back in the day but really wasn't a fan until Oblivion came out. Screw all the kids out there saying Oblivion was a bad game.

I am an advlt and I say Oblivion was bad. Does that mean I escape the screwing? It was interesting for a while when I first got it but after the novelty of a new Elder Scrolls wore off I was disappointed after having playing Morrowind.

Since Daggerfall, which I today thinks of as the best game, despite the bugs. Very much so because of it's massive scale, where there after several playthroughs are probably tens of thousands of places I haven't even visited yet. With successive games, you know the world after the first playthrough, and you're not really exploring anymore - everything is about the same as it was - boring.

True fan has nothing to do with when you started, but how many hours you've put into the series as a whole. There are probably gamers here that have played Oblivion more than I have played all put together, deserving the "true fan" title more than me. I'm probably more like an "annoying fan" :D

Morrowind took some getting used to, but in the end for me, it was too high fantasy. Daggerfall and Oblivion seems much more "down to earth" with me, and thus more enjoyable to play. Maybe Skyrim will have elements from high fantasy, but I hope it doesn't go way over the top like Morrowind did. Being able to believe is a bit part of my ability to immerse into the game, Morrowind lacked that.

And just cause you dont dislike any skyrim features doesnt make you a true fan, if anything it should be the opposite.

You don't get to define the parameters of someone else's being a fan of ES, regardless of what game they play and whether or not they like what they see of Skyrim.

By kids I meant the people who put it down constantly, drone on and on about how much better morrowind was. I have yet to see you do as such so yes, you do escape being screwed,

I didn't play any computer games in the mid 90's, so I missed Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, and Redguard. I really loved Morrowind when I bought it in 2002, and still do. I think there's no other game I ever spent as much time with, so I guess this makes me some kind of a fan. The expansions, which I also loved, and the construction set have much to do with that. I also played Oblivion for a while, but couldn't really get into it. Let's see how Skyrim will turn out.
