TRUE Radiant AI

Post » Thu Jul 28, 2011 5:48 am

Will the Radiant AI include (possibly) enemies like bandits and conjuers.
Do bandits just sit in a cave or do they do somehing like go and get supplies and
raid villages?
Will mudcrabs and bears walk among the woods aimlessly or do they try to find a dinner or a cave to settle in?
So do other that normal NPC be included in Radiant AI?

Mudcrabs will operate as a monarchy and if you play your cards right you'll be able to get in good with the mudcrab royalty and join the unique mudcrab faction that only takes orders from the king crab...the Crusty Crabs. These men are sworn to protect the crab king much like the Blades are sworn to protect the emperor...though the crabs are more successful.

In any case I personally believe that mudcrabs will benefit from the new AI package and will be able to issue advanced orders and strategise on the battlefields.

It will be nice to see if major enemies had their own lives, like giants talking to each other, collecting supplies and doing their activities. Asking for a mudcrab to have Radiant AI is plain stupid, they are a minor enemy and the likely chance that a player will just stop and watch what it does is extremely low - besides, they move really slow!

How dare you say those slanderous things against mudcrabs. They are very intelligent, graceful creatures and their culture is just too difficult for the likes of you to comprehend.

I agree. The majestic mudcrab and it's complex social structure has been overlooked for far too long!

Well if we get romantic options then I suppose we should see mudcrabs humping by the river side too and burying their eggs. Hopefully I'll come across mammoths doing the do in the tundra. Matter of fact I want everything humping in the game because then the game will be the most mature game ever.

They give packs of wolves hunting patterns and mammoths and giants roaming patterns, I'm sure that they'll give bandits/conjurors, bears, and any other living thing in the game the same treatment. bandits'll probably go raiding here and there, kill certain things that get near their home base, and kidnap the occasional villager(probably prompting a quest as you arrive in town, if what I have heard is correct.) Bears willl probably act much like wolves do, and Mudcrabs shall have their empire.

As for regular ol' NPC's, of course they will all be included in the Radiant AI. I doubt the devs were like "Oh, we'll make these wild animals have detailed mannerisms and tendencies and just leave the normal npc's to just sit around all day feeling sorry for themselves."

Besides...no matter what wouldn't this always be the "TRUE" Radiant AI since Radiant AI is their lil' baby?

Mudcrabs are amongst the best of the gods' creations. Apparently many people have fought ones tougher than the Hero of Kvatch.

I don't think they put THAT much thought into it. But, then again, it's Bethesda so I wouldn't be surprised if all the enemies have daily schedules and stuff.

I do not know if it will extend to the likes of mud crabs, bur the NPC AI even for the likes of bandits, and animal AI for the likes of wolves would be much better than previous games,

They were talking about how wolves will hunt, and will stay with the kill and protect it.

Radiant AI guides all of Oblivion's people and creatures, including bandits and mudcrabs. From what I seem to recall from interviews, I think some creatures of Skyrim will hunt for dinner, and ignore you when they already have their dinner, and use lairs. Although I don't expect it to see it, it would be nice to see a bandit visit a city for supplies, and stroll the city without guards and citizens automatically knowing him for a bandit, and go about his business without attacking the city folk just because he is a bandit.
