That daggerfall is the size of 2 great britons shoved together and there's NO fast travel?

It is that size, and there is fast travel. However it makes sense, and adds to the game, unlike in Oblivion. The world makes it not really optional, but neccessary and logical to use it as well.

i read that it was a little bit larger than 1 great britain. i don't think they calculated how much of that is water though. and there is fast travel.

Zingar Baltus quite cleverly calculated the game map as approx 130,000 km^2, which is about the size of England (and remember that England =/= Great Britain). Yes, much of the map is water, so it'd be interesting to know how much area the land takes up.
