Truely unbelievable

Do you know how stupid some of these comments sound? The game being on consoles has nothing to do with the issues mentioned.. They made the game the way they wanted to. Features they didn't want were taken out. Gun grab animation, first person driving, etc... Do you guys honestly believe they removed these sorts of things because it wouldn't fit on consoles or something? This is cracking me up.
you sir, are an obvious dumbass.. they were taken out simply because they were focusing so much on the consoles that they didnt even have enough time to see what made the first game great.. they made the game in a way so that it would appeal to console gamers..
-why leave the island in the first place?
* because consoles wouldnt be handling it in the first place.
-Why remove the huge sandbox gameplay?
*consoles cant handle it.
-why make strength and speed passive abilities?
* Because controllers dont have enough bottons.
-why not build crysis 2 with dx11 from the ground up?
* consoles only use dx9.
-why remove ammo grabbing animation and first person view in vehicles?
*console players ( mostly ) havent played the first crysis so why would they care?
-no lean?
*not enough buttons on the controllers.
-55° field of view?
*console gamers play on their tv's while sitting 10 feet away so broader FoV would ruin their experience.

the questions continue my retarded friend.. but the only question i have is :

-Why didnt you feature all these stuff only on the pc since the pc clearly can handle it and we've seen in crysis and crysis warhead
*"To busy pleasing the console gamers and we dont wanna punish the console gamers because they make us more money"

I don't understand, the game looks better than the first one.... I'm starting to think everyone's problem is that this game isn't the system killer that the first one was... Maybe it's more optimized? If it looks better than the first and all you're upset with is the gameplay, how does that have anything to do with the game also being available for consoles?

What on earth was Crytek thinking? This game is so much worse than the original crysis It's shocking. No Directx10 or 11, no prone, no lean, no fists, no first-person driving, no weapon grabbing animation, no holding weapons and enemies at the same time, throwing objects feels weird and awkward now, the nanosuit isn't nearly as much fun to use or as responsive, no quicksave, no regular save, no making the difficulty higher without starting the game over, no changing the color of the menu and HUD, no customizing crosshairs, no graphics options whatsoever, no difference between this game and halo or cod. I got myself so pumped up for this game only to be let down. I just have no idea what Crytek was thinking, they should have known they would get flamed bad for this.
Glad I did not buy it then. I was gonna pull the trigger last night since I really loved Crysis 1 and Warhead but wanted to see what the people are saying about it. I don't trust game sites/magazine reviews anymore.
I check what the actual people like you and I are saying about games.
I will wait till it is on sale on steam and then get it.
Thanks again for the heads up :)

the game is awesome, end of story .... all games today need a bit of tweaks and fixes after release. The biggest mistake with crysis 2 was to make it for ps3, xbox360 and Pc... this always brings problems...

If i think to the future i dont want to know what will happen with the all loved BF3...

Dont get me wrong, i got a Xbox360 and a Ps3 too, but Shooters or MMO`s should be played on Pc only... and games with new Engines should not start with consoles... I would start with Pc and after all the problems are fixed on Pc, maybe than i would bring a console version of a game... but hey, we are all little guys that cant tell the big companys what they should do and what not...

i am sorry for my bad english i hope some ppl understand what i want to say

That doesn't make any sense.. FPS should only be played on PC? Why exactly is that? It's no secret that a high end PC will have better graphics than a five year old console, but FPS games play just as good on consoles as they do on PC. PC gamers like to say "console fanboys" and the funny thing is that makes them look like the most narrow-minded fanboy around. The only thing a high end PC has over console is slightly better textures, a better draw distance, and better looking lighting and shadows.. But all that comes at a much higher cost. They don't have to dumb down gameplay to make it fit consoles.. Those are just uneducated claims.

Well, limiting hardware can limit gameplay a great deal as well. Hardware restrictions are a constant issue when designing levels and the various scenarios you can create whenever you want to uphold a visual standard.

The big gameplay changer however is the input device. A controller does not give nearly the same flexibility or precision as a mouse and keyboard setup. Take lean for example. It's a common feuture to get removed as a game moves over to consoles and that's mainly because of a lack of buttons to effectively bind it to.

Shooters are overall made to be slower on consoles. Even then any major console shooter relies heavily on sticky aiming. You pretty much don't see any Quake style shooters anymore.

To say that making a console game for PC doesn't impact gameplay is straight out stupid. Compare FEAR and FEAR 2 for example.

Considering ea as such a big company, and Crysis 2 has so many advertisemants on different game sites, only a fool will give the game a mediocre score which it deserves.
Giving Crysis 2 a low score = cut off future potential advertisment incomes from ea.

^this. Do you guys remember Gamespot's Jeff Gertsman who reviewed Kane and Lynch? The man said the game was mediocre (which other sites agreed with) and he was fired! Why? Because on the main gamespot front page, guess what advertisemant was there? You guessed it: Kane and Lynch. It stirred up a lot of trouble and other senior gamespot staff left as a result. It's a complete agreement with jelf's comment. You wont rate a company who's paying you for advertisemant badly, and this is EA we're talking about.

In any case, the game for gameplay and story seems to be well according to them and the lighting in the engine for sure (I've only played through up until the beginning of Lab Rat so far so I can't say more). The handling of the suit is more fun than ever though IMO. Crysis 1's suit handling was never this good. It was sluggish and slow. And the AI DOES seem pretty stupid in some cases. Most of the time they coordinate fire and such, but other times, I take out a guy and he screams, and the guys right next to him don't even flinch. Lack of quicksave also pisses me off too. It was in the beta. No reason why it shouldn't be here.

As for PC specifics, same thing. Where are the graphics settings, the 64-bit executable and Sandbox3? Hell, give me back my time of day transitions and volumetric clouds! The sky is static and I notice it! Not to mention the cheap water. What happened to true CryEngine water?! What's killing the graphics for me tbh is the foliage really. Other things have been improved but I have come to expect certain other things too from before that we KNOW CE3 is capable of from the techdemos. I can understand SB3 not being in here though seeing as they want to license the engine to others so people would need to pay for the SDK but a stripped down one for PC modding would have been nice.

One thing I have to say though is that I got a 'surprise' yesterday when i fired up multiplayer. I expected to see 6 vs 6, 12 players max and instead, i saw 8 on 8, 16 players!! That was my highlight for the day. Of course I'm badly going to miss Power Struggle and 32 man vehicle combat but that never really caught on with me personally (have not played Crysis Wars so i cant say). But yes, too many steps back in the wrong places. I wonder if they could address our issues with a Crysis 2.5 MAXIMUM PC edition or something.

Those are all very nice claims, but that's all they are. But I guess it's easy to take everything you don't like about it and say it's only like that because consoles can't handle it. It's fine if you don't like it, but you've no grounds to make any claims as to why it is the way it is.

The only consequence that comes from making Crysis 2 available on consoles is more sales... Lots more sales... More sales = more money for new games. The devs done with the game as they intended. It would have been the same if it were PC exclusive.

the fact the first game and its expansion included all of those stuff i see no other reason why they should remove all of those features unless they want to make it work on the consoles and appeal to the console comunity..
so i have every right to say this game is a straight console port.

yes it does. can u find 2 more free buttons for Strenght and Speed mode? can u find 2 more for lean? can u find a game with dx11 on consoles? or dx10? can u find a game that has a sandbox environment and with that high textures as the first game? can u find dual gpu support on any console? ( crysis 2 doesnt even have on the pc atm ). can u find toggle sprint, crouch option on consoles? ( very few games do, i actually cant find any my self ). any decent triple A game with high textures on consoles?

dude i can continue for hours which features consoles cannot handle.. if you still dont understand than please go and **** your self because you sir, are pissing me off.

Like many of you I too am truly shocked by how much fail this game shipped with. Overall it's a pretty good game that I will play and recommend to people, but it COULD have been much better. The gameplay improved massively (especially multiplayer), but the graphics took a huge step backwards. On any other title, you could easily claim that gameplay > graphics. But this is CRYSIS, it's supposed to be the most graphically advanced game out there...this is a major aspect of what makes this franchise compelling and it's simply illogical that it looks FAR, FAR WORSE than the original. Honestly I don't understand...when Warhead was released, it looked better AND ran faster than the original...why couldn't they just extend that concept?

I'm not just upset that the graphics aren't better than the original. I'm upset because the game simply looks like total ****! Super blurry, low res textures...too confined environments...it's tough to make out exactly what you're seeing or what's going on at some points. Now, because the multiplayer gameplay is so good, I am willing to overlook this aspect of the game, but I just don't understand why we can't have BOTH good graphics AND good gameplay. All they had to do was the leave the graphics alone (PC hardware has caught up by now) and improve the gameplay, and they would have had a real winner.

I'm not going to whine about lack of DX11 and the fact that consoles dominated the development (even though these things svck), but what I am pissed about is that they made absolutely no effort to customize the game for each platform. The total lack of graphics options in the PC version just reeks of lazy ass devs and I consider it a grave insult to the PC gaming community.

I've been all over the forums and pretty much 99% of all threads are COMPLAINTS. This is not just a case of a vocal minority...pretty much everyone is complaining and most of the complains are legit. When all of your customers are complaining, something is obviously wrong.

I haven't seen this much fury over a game since Need For Speed: World (the biggest disaster of a game I've ever seen....and also an EA title...coincidence? lol).

I'm gonna go play WoW until they at least put some graphics options in the PC version.

The main problem here seems to be that people live in some paralell universe where Crysis 1 was actully a great game and as such have some warped vision of Crysis 2 being bad for not being like Crysis 1. Crysis 1 was mediocre at best and Daikatana bad at worst, Warhead was a slight improvement but still a far way from an A title, and this is from someone who owns and have beaten both Crysis and Warhead, heck even had the computer to run Crysis on High at release. It was known only for its graphics really and still is and the Nano-suit everyone is/was raving about was really just a remake of the feral powers from the *drum roll* console port of Far Cry 1(so much for the dumbing down for console argument :P). Also the Nano-suit havent been "dumbed down" for Crysis 2. Everything you could do in Crysis 1 is there just moved around slightly(High-jump moved away from Strength etc.). Even the quick-access system of just pushing a button was possible(ok in all fairness you need to doubletap a key) in Crysis 1/Warhead if you knew how to work the controls setup screen and had an IQ over Golden Retriever. Just installed Warhead again and running it on full Gamer at 1920x1080 and its actully uglier then Crysis 2 MP beta was.

Anyone who can't see that Crysis 2 is a console game is either deceiving himself or unfamiliar with the capabilities of modern PC gaming.

Anyone who thinks Crysis 2 looks anywhere near as good as Crysis 1 (let alone better, pfffffft!), hasn't played or doesn't remember Crysis 1 maxed out.

Anyone who thinks that new gameplay mechanics somehow compensate for gimped graphics and complete disregard for the original storyline is just grasping at straws.

Look, it's not a bad game by any means. But it sure as hell doesn't deserve to be called the sequel to Crysis.

I bought it from cdkeyshere.com for $27 (or 19€ instead of the retail €50) and I still feel this was a waste, it would be an okay game if it didn't had Crysis in the title, because this is an insult to the fanbase that made them what they are today, I feel bad after buying this because it means I supported this crap..
