Trying to come up with a good name for a fictional drug

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:19 pm

It's for a story I'm working on, and I need a good name for a drug, preferably not sounding like the usual -ozine, -ine, -alin crap, but an already made word like the fictional drugs "Jet" (Fallout) and Ambrosia (Deus Ex, I think).

The drug would be pretty much the equivalent of an almost 100% addictive heroin.

Steam, Sweat, and Spin all sound good, but I'm looking for something catchy like "Ambrosia".

Turns out something else already took that. Saw it on Wikipedia. I like "Blue Rain" a lot, but it sounds awfully familiar...

Of course it was already taken. Just like Ambrosia. They're both old mythical things. :P

Or you mean someone used it as a fictional drug already?

"Zyme" would be the resident illegal addictive drug in Deus Ex, Ambrosia is the name of the medication for the Grey Death. Many illegal substances tend to use some more innocuous, unassuming terms for their nicknames, and something with the same ring as "ambrosia" stands out a little too much. I like Terash Ca's "blue."
