I'm trying to decide between Erandur or the Skull of Corrupt

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:09 am

Any advice? How good of a follower is he? Is he worth leaving behind the Skull?

I used him for a while, not bad. I wouldn't say he's the ideal follower. Brelyna from the mage college seems better to me.

Judging by how worthless Ithe Skull is, I'd say Erandur is superior. A wheel of cheese would be more useful than that piece of junk.

I always give the Skull of Corruption to Martin in Oblivion so it wasn't something I cared about in Skyrim either. My choice was easy and Erandur is one follower I'm thinking of recruiting if I find I can't really keep Lydia alive at the higher levels. I met him early too though so we'll see.

Okay, so it wasn't just me. As worthless as a decoration as it is in combat.

And stealing dreams seems to wake up the target. No, Maven, go back to sleep!

How exactly does the skull work? It says that it steals dreams to do 50 damage, but is that only for one attack? Or does it last for longer than that, or...?

because if it can do a consistant 50 damage, and you can get it at level 1, it would be pretty epic for quite a long time. 15-20 levels, anyway.

I couldn't get the stupid thing to work the first time around so I let Erandur destroy it and made him my Companion. he's a total Badass and to be honest I WAS SO SUSPICIOUS OF HIM then when he actually destroyed the Staff and said lets be brows I was like

*Bro fist*

I wonder if Erandur will pay a visit to this thread.

You guys are all missing the point here, which is whether it is right to punish Erandur for his betrayal of Vaermina's faith or support him in his new lifestyle as a priest of Mara.

OK, I am an RP nerd, so sue me :)

I picked Erandur because he kicked ass during the quest, but I actually didn't use him that much afterward.

Besides, there's always J'zargo and Marcurio.

Morally it just seems a little dikeish to kill the poor guy. Yet the thought of him alone in that old temple makes me sad.

I didn't want to kill him when I did the quest, and have found him to be a very good follower. With him and Vigilance the dog I can sit back in a fight and shoot a few arrows in occasionally :-)

I'd keep him and ditch the staff. Whilst he may not be the best ever companion in a fight he seems to have more dialogue than the other followers. Has a comment wherever I go about the location, less repetition. Makes a more interesting fleshed out follower.

I think you guys are totally missing the point of the Daedric quests in this game.

which seems to be: be tempted do stuff you're really uncomfortable with: Canibalism, Betrayal... I do have the skull though i liked that guy. I don't think the daedric accievement will be something one can really be proud of...

but the skull really seems to be rubbish.

Same here. I didn't want that crappy staff and I really like Erandur's character, but on my second playthrough I decided from the beginning to finish the Oblivion Walker achievement because I couldn't on my good character. Still, killing him all for some crappy staff made me feel bad even though my character betrays people all the time (this assassin of mine is one conniving jerk).

Erandur, he is more powerful than so call daedric artifact.

Unless you are collector.

Considering the really bad companion AI, I'd go with the skull. :obliviongate:

It's not about the Skull at that point; it's about taking vengeance on someone who betrayed his pledge to Vaermina :)

Aren't they supposed to tempt us to follow the Prince's whims? Because I'm just letting Vaermina know... she's gotta put a little more out there.

Well so far neither of my characters are really big on Vaermina. My Paladin of course approved of his turn towards Mara and the Divines (allowed the Maran rites and now has Erandur as a friend and companion semi-frequently) and my Assassin is just looking for power wherever he can get it, he helps the Daedric Princes for their artifacts rather than for any genuine care or preference towards any of them.

Heh, in that way I suppose he's just like the Daedric Princes, he uses them for his purposes and they use him for theirs. Everybody wins!

So it sounds like a few of you killed Erandur because you believed that the Skull would give you astronomical powers. Sounds to me like Vaermina fooled you good :)

Incidentally, my first character accepted the Skull and he's damn glad to have it, but maybe that's because he has no direct damage capability on his own.
