Trying to get Co-op mod to work.

Me and a friend have a Steam Copy of oblivion and we have been trying desperately to get this co-op mod working but the readme supplied with it is very vague.

This site is where I originally downloaded the mod from: http://www.moddb.com/mods/obliviononline/downloads/obliviononline-045-repack

(I apologize in advance if links aren't allowd, I can upload the .zip/.rar manually if the mods prefer that.)

If anyone knows anything about this mod I would greatly appreciate some help but what I fear is that it is no longer supported for the updated Steam copy of Oblivion, but luckily I still have the original retail version of Oblivion if that is needed.

I have followed the readme precisely and tried with my normal ip address and we also tried using Hamachi, but we had no luck. I have been typing in my IP into the realmslist.wth as " ". But I am clueless as to how to get it working. The newest release of OBSE is supposed to work by launching through steam. I have disabled all other mods in "Data Files" except Oblivion.esm (Master File) & OblivionOnline.esp as well. When I have ConsoleServer.exe running, I can never see that my friend has connected. Are we both just supposed to start a new game and he will appear next to me? The readme doesn't explain anything very well.

Am I doing something wrong by not enabling the mod through OBSE or Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM)?
Thanks for any help! :)

According to the description it needs OBSE, so you need to start the game with OBSE, though I don't know you do that with the Steam version. However, I can pretty much guarantee this is fake and only put up to get attention. Sorry, but it's been proved time and time again that multiplayer just isn't possible (even if it would be fun to play with a friend) because it's been built as a singleplayer game and has no code for that. The only way there will ever be multiplayer is if someone gets the source code and alters it, which I'm pretty sure breaks the user agreement, and it would be illegal to share. So, for even a chance at someone making it multiplayer, we're going to have to wait until Bethesda offers the game for free, if they ever do so like they did with Arena and Daggerfall.

The guy probably just put it up for attention. I'd scan your computer for viruses just in case though.

I don't meant for this to sound rude at all, but do you know much about the history of the mod? And that is a very trusted website so I am not afraid of a virus. Moddb supports lots of games and isn't some shoddy website with malware and junk like fpsbanana or something. I did some brief research before I downloaded it and apparently some guys did make a stable multiplayer version, but it kind of died and they didn't have time to maintain and update it so I guess that's why. I was hoping I could get it to work with an older version of Oblivion though. I have seen screenshots and video proof of the mod and idk how you could fake that really.

No, I really wouldn't expect a virus from Moddb either, but I'd still probably do the scan at least on the files you downloaded in case they missed something. I can't say I don't know about that mod in specific, it's just that a lot of people have come forward saying they have made the game multiplayer, not just with Oblivion but also Morrowind and Fallout 3, and they've gone to great lengths to prove they've done it, such as scripting NPCs to act like a PC might, I remember with Fallout 3 someone even tried to simulate the character being caught up because of lag. More power to you if you want to try and get this running, but I wouldn't get my hopes up about it.
