Hail, friends

I'm a long time RPG gamer, and I really want to like Skyrim - it's so majestic and beautiful - but I've tried playing it twice now, and both times I ended up losing interest. I want to give it another shot, but I want to see if I can get some advice first.

The reason I ended up losing interest both times was there was little immersion. The world is beautiful, but as I went through the main quest, everything was so simplistic, from the quests themselves to how the characters communicated with me. The dialogue seemed very direct and simple, and feels very unrealistic and unemotional. And the story, too - I felt like I was given a horse, a fancy title, and all kinds of things right off the bat, for practically no effort. The part where I stopped both times was when you first arrive to the college of Winterhold. They accepted me as a pupil for no reason at all - no discussions, no explanations, no anything. "Want to study here? Okay! Here's a free room and everything!" That was the point when the logical part of my brain simply could not maintain the belief that I'm part of some epic adventure.

I want to like the game, but I'm wondering if there are some solutions to this. Perhaps I should avoid the main storyline and go on other adventures? Perhaps there are mods that make the story feel more immersive and realistic??

I hope this doesn't sound like a rant against Elder Scrolls - I'm a big fan of Morrowind, and I'm simply trying to find a way to enjoy Skyrim in the same way I did Morrowind back then.

Then just don't play it. It seems obvious that Skyrim isn't your cup of tea. There's nothing wrong with that.

Dont EVER force yourself to play a game. I did that and got burned out for a long time on gajes. Even if you dont play a game for weeks, dont force yourself you will get burned out and hate the game.
