Trying to help you out...pc gamers save your money

Post » Fri Nov 07, 2008 4:16 pm

Ok besides the obvious tons of listed problems you guys are all already aware of, this is an honest judgement and critique of the game here. Pc gamers save your money the graphics are horrible. No options really for adjustment just resolutions and gamer or high mode yadayada. I have been playing through single player for over an hour and this is as honest as your going to get I am really trying to help out my fellow pc gamers here so listen up.

The graphics on this game are mediocre xbox 360 at the very best. You guys know what vector graphics are? Most of what I have seen so far looks like the entire platform was built on it. They really svck. Sorry Crytek I really wanted this but its just simply not there. If they ever was a console port to pc this game takes the grand prize! Thats all it is. They tossed pc gamers aside on this one. Fun on the xobx probably, probably even be fun on the playstation3. But when you spend thousands on a gaming rig looking for the best the gaming world has to offer this is not it. You need to look else where.

Epic Fail. I wont be spending any more money on this company til they come back to us pc gamers and give us our rightful due. I feel bad saying all this but its true about the port. Even just watching the opening scene 30 seconds into it I was saying to myself "this is it, this is the big opening showing off effects letting me know what I am in for?" Extremely disappointing. One hour into it and I wish I had saved my money. I hope this helps some of you save yours.

Bottom line is this----> This is absolutely nothing more but a mediocre console port at best.

Sorry crytek you did this not me, I am just being honest.

If by 'the graphics are horrible', you mean 'the graphics are better than the overwhelming majority of games, with only one or two surpassing it', then yeah, I agree.

If you spent Thousands as in 2 grand or higher then you paid too damn much, you can build a sandy bridge rig for less than $1500 with 2600k and a gtx 580, also with all that badarse hardware why aren't you playing on Extreme...since I believe that is the highest settings. They removed gamer with the latest patch...are you sure you are playing a validly purchased copy and not the leak or a torrent????

Gameplay > Graphics

I wonder who ever thought this one up in the first place. Must have been a console player.

20 years ago, in the age of Ultima IV, I could have agreed with you. Of course, back then, we didn't have "graphics".

This game barely spins my cards. Dual 5870's. I think they can handle it. Like I said mediocre xbox at best. Vector graphics, looks like somebody cut the shapes out of colored construction paper and inserted them into scenery. You guys must not expect much.

Sorry to hear that Syntax. Crytek's banned me like 10 times now for trying to warn people, especially after the "leak". God bless whoever that employee with a conscience was.

Thats what the whole yadayada thing was I didnt feel the need to list every single option. Thousands on a gaming rig? You cant even call your pc a rightful gaming rig unless you have at least 3grand into it. Just cause you bought an off the shelf dell at best buy and updated the ram and graphics card doesnt mean you are running a gaming rig.

While I have to point out I've already noticed several texturing error's and UV errors on the models. The game is fine, and well worth the money. I'm not sure what PC game you've been playing, but there has yet to be one that I've played that has pushed a computer this hard before. The only one that comes to mind is the first Crysis. I wish people would stop calling this a "console port". It's not a console port. It was built on an engine that also supports consoles. No different from Unreal. It's like calling any Unreal game a console port. It just simply isn't the case. The reason this term keeps getting thrown around is because they didn't change some text parameters such as the TV and "Press Start" things in the first release. This has caused confusion and ignorance.

Quite frankly it's getting annoying seeing how hopeless you so called "PC Gamers" are. You know nothing of how a gaming engine works, you have no idea how Cryengine 3 works. And you sure as hell don't seem to understand the limitations of an Xbox or PS3 and what the PC version of Crysis 2 is actually accomplishing. Take a step back off your pedestal. No one actually cares about your so called review of the game. If they want to play it, they will. If they want to wait for the DX11 patch, they will.

There are bugs, as there are with all games. It wasn't until later patches in Crysis that we got even more options to adjust the graphics. Give it time.

I pre-ordered yesterday but I was an avid Crysis fan so I'll just play this one and throw it over my shoulder if its bad. No biggy since we have that big something something coming at the end of the year.

Ha-ha. I was going to post something similar. So, let me join your club, OP! And for someone who thinks this is fantastic graphics please check your eyes first. Or run Crysis 1 and watch it a little.

Well, here's my little whining. I'm just an average PC gamer who has played Crysis 1 a lot of times. I patiently waited for the release date, trying to avoid all wars between haters and fanboys. Now I've played first two levels on extreme video settings. And here's my impression.

For now this game is total console rubbish and it's inferior to Crysis 1 in any way possible. For me it's just painful to see how this franchise turned into such mediocre... thingy. I'm sitting here disappointed and I can't decide if I want to play this game further or not. I hope there will be more patches for the PC. I hope after patching I will be able to play this game and at the same time ENJOY it. And it's not about only graphics, it's about the whole thing we call Crysis 2.

To sum it up:
(1) No DX11. Yeah, yeah, it's somewhere out there. Maybe. But we're already playing this game. All we have for now is dead silence from Crytek.
(2) The graphics is meh at best even on extreme settings. Nothing extraordinary. A lot of textures are blurred (for example, look at the headlights of a jeep when you see it for the first time in the game). Is this seriously CryEngine 3? Or CryEngine 1.5?
(3) No advanced video settings at all.
(4) FOV is too narrow.
(5) No first person view from cars. At the same time, in C1 I can easily switch between third and first person view.
(6) Inability to shut up that annoying suit voice! At the same time, C1 allows to choose a male or female voice or turn it off completely.
(7) Dozen of intros you CAN’T skip. At the same time, C1 allows to skip secondary intros without any additional patches and tweaks.
(8) There’s no quick save function. NO F5/F9! WTF?! My first reaction honestly was like: “Whear mah F5? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~!!!!!1111” Do I play a PC game or a console ****? Huh? There’s no quick save in a CRYSIS game! While it was possible to quick save in the beta! Crytek, this is totally incomprehensible. I use a PC, not a console. GIVE ME MY FUKKEN F5 BUTTON BACK!

Ok I can respect your opinion here, at least you put some thought into it. And true crytek sure can make games a lot better than I ever could, I admit that. Maybe they spoiled us with the first one?

Quite possible. Ha. But to be honest... I wouldn't mind seeing the first game in Cryengine 3. There are a lot of neat texturing effects, environment effects, and lighting effects in Cryegine 3 that could really change up the look of Crysis. One can dream, right? I think the most noticeable effect change is the invisibility between Crysis and Crysis 2. If you haven't looked in a while, go check it out. The original invisibility looks like the cloak in the Xbox version of Crysis 2. It's kind of funny to me. It's the little things that we take for granted. Sure we're not exactly getting the best most fantastic looking game ever, but there's certainly still a chance out there for future (hopefully soon) patches.

Epic Fail. I wont be spending any more money on this company til they come back to us pc gamers and give us our rightful due. I feel bad saying all this but its true about the port. um...you can't buy my system at Dell or Bestbuy...its not acer/hp/compaq/ or even a boutique built gaming computer...if you would like to try to find this config in a Best Buy or on Dells website be my guest http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1725975

And furthermore you think you cant get a Proper gaming PC less than 3 grand...

lets see..these are newegg current prices

motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128471&Tpk=g1%20sniper

cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070&Tpk=2600k

video cards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130587

memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233143

power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139014

case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119225

This is $2500 dollars and has 3x the GPU power your rig has and the fastest processor on the market right now, heck i even put in a $450 dollar motherboard which is way overkill and dual 580's trying to spend money, the power supply screams high end, corsair 16gb memory to boot. Most people already have a monitor but If we remove the extra GPU and lower to like a normal motherboard for $200 you would still be like under $2300 to $2400 and have the fastest single GPU and CPU made plus 16gb of memory..but we can cut part of that out too and lose another $125...then we don't need a power supply thats 1200 watts but one thats like 850'ish which would cut another 50-75 dollars off... You may be able to spend $3000 on a rig that doesn't mean that the choices were intelligent or that you spent hours reading reviews at Tomshardware.com, Guru3d.com, Xbitlabs, hardwarecanucks, overclockers.com or any of the major hardware reviewing sites..so next time don't assume that the person you are replying to lives in a cave.

I dissagree, PC gamers should give this game a chance, the campaign is amazing, presentation is awesome, gameplay is fun.
Maybe not as awesome as Crysis1, but still a very good game so far.
