I'm getting this weird, and terrible issue where if I try editing the Author and/or Description for a mod in the CS, it corrupts the .esp. After I edit them, I get this error when I try loading the game with them active or loading them in the CS.

It svcks, svcks, svcks, svcks. Anyone got any ideas what's causing this? This didn't used to happen but I can't think of anything that I've changed! This is on an install that I've been using for a while now and have never seen this before. I don't think I've done anything funky like trying to patch the CS, or even the game beyond the typical MCP.

This means the file is seriously corrupted beyond repair.
I hope you have a back-up. (luckily there is always the pukcab.bak)

Did you get a crash or freeze the last time you saved the esp? That might have caused it.

Cleaning the memory/registry of your computer could help, too.
I run CCleaner before shutting down at night. It's free.

No and no. It replicates every time that whenever I try and edit those fields (whether or not I hit cancel or okay), it corrupts the file. It is the oddest and svckiest thing. I don't seem to have another copy of the file. I'll check the pukcab, but it wasn't the last file I edited in the CS.

If you can't find a working backup,
tes3cmd recover "my plugin.esp"
could recover some mod parts
