Trying to go to McCaran with Veronica is very difficult.

I'm not going to give out any spoilers, but I have veronica in my part right now and I am trying to get her companion quest to activate. However, when I try to go to Camp McC, when trying to head towards the terminal doors, the game freezes, every time. I have gone here with numerous companions but not it freezes any time I attempt to go near them with her. Not to mention, Contreras never gave me This Machine for completing his quests >.<

Try telling her to go back to the lucky 38 once and see what it does.

There quite a lot of quest activating scenarios for Veronica.. Try some different ones? Vault 3, Silver rush etc..

I have been to the silver rush and I got a different dialog from her there. I know I have other options for the quest, but my main concern is actually that I can no longer get into the terminal to buy ammo or supplies from contreras. I hope it resolves when I ditch her after this quest.

I had this kind of problem with Forlorn hope for a while. I actually called up the tech helpline.. Heh, they tried telling me they'd never heard about these faults with nv.. They changed their mind once I told them I had the internet and read forums etc..
Anyways... The advice I was given was to travel to a completely different area and do some unrelated quests, apparently it changes the way the game responds or something, not sure. It kind of worked though. FH was still pretty laggy but it eased up by quite a bit and I was able to complete those quests.

Thanks for the tip. I just went straight to hidden valley and got the quest to find the brotherhood patrols and then skipped over to vegas to work on another quest, the white wash one.

Camp McCarran is by far the fastest to get Veronica's quest. In fact:

Spoiler
Veronica needs two triggers and they are in Camp McCarran: One is just getting into McCarran and the other is starting up the Vault 22 Quest with her as a companion. At least, that's what happened to me in one playthrough.

Heh, well I already did the quest with the Vault 22, so I was hoping for an easy option to get her to start flapping her gums, but it kept freezing. I tried nipton and nelson, but even after wandering around a while she doesn't say anything abnormal. Do I have to have her in my group for so many days before I should start doing these things? Or does it not matter if I just pick her up for the first time and try to get 'em to fire off?

Nope, there is an enormous list of possible triggers for V's quest.. You actually don't need any..

Spoiler
If you arm Archimedes II at Helios, go to Freeside and get the Rangefinder from the little kid near Mick and Ralph's. You auto-start 'I could make you care'.

Well, by leaving and doing a different quest, my game no longer freezes right there so I can enter the camp terminal again. However, this does not make her initiate dialogue, as it should. It is really ticking me off, because last time I played through the game, I had no problem with her quest and all the options fired up when they were supposed to. But now, I can't get hardly anything out of her.

Sorry man, I'd suggest checking the wiki and just trying one of her other locations... There are a LOT to choose from...

No worries. Her perks aren't going to concern me, but I just like her quest so I wanted to do it and to get some extra EXP. I have a physical strategy guide for it, and I checked the wiki and have been going to other places, so I hope something pops up eventually. Otherwise I will just have to ditch her or punch her in the head or something. LOL.

I am on 360, and I haven't had a problem with it freezing until I got the latest patches. Like I said, I got it to not freeze by going there, but she still hasn't been telling me anything whatsoever.

did you go inside and walk around a bit in the terminal then come out?

That is when she says something then you talk to her.

Is it possible she said her line there and you did not hear her?

Even when shd says her line you have to push talk. Then she will say more.

Oh, I would have heard. I specifically went into the terminal to get the dialog, so I was waiting for it, but I am not sure about when I left the terminal. From what I read, she should say something about troop levels when you enter one of the two doorways closest to where Col. Hsu is, but maybe I can try it again just to see. Thanks for the tip. I also can't get my E-DE to give me any further logs beyond the first, sadly.
