Turn-Based Combat

not a chance, witch is ok for me because i like the a-rpg style than just a boring menu. i just hope they make vats better and i hope the trailer was real footage because those were an amazing improvement of the engine.

Okay, so just assuming that Obsidian has the time and resources, why not put these ideas together?
I mean, you can walk around and explore the wasteland in the first person, but press the VATS button and you go into an Isometric view and turn-based combat. Of course you can still shoot in real time, s'just an option for those wanting to use their character skill. Maybe have a menu option to make it so you can only use turn-based or realtime or both.

Thoughts?

It would have to be balanced so they're both equaly good as each other. That's where VATS failed - it's usually overkill.

Yeah, I'm talking basically an advanced F1/F2 system almost to the core where only character skill matters and nothing more. And first person obviously is impossible to balance so you can either choose to use it or to not use it. I mean, no matter what, a large degree of player skill is going to govern any real time combat.

The best chance is waiting for the info to come up.


As much as I'd like it to be implemented, I don't really expect it to given the circumstances.
