Turn off clouds in Map?

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 9:08 pm

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet. But the clouds in the map are really annoying. I can't see any roads or anything that's not a mountain.

It seems that the amount of clouds increases depending on the weather. So I feel justified in saying this:

I'm looking at a map to see where I'm going! Not to find out what the weather is like!

The map in Oblivion was very small and you couldn't zoom in or out yes. But at least you could see roads and other important landmarks!

Please someone tell me if there's a way to remove these clouds or get some kind of 2D map? :(

You should be asking in "Mods", not "Hardware and Software Issues".

There was a thread the other day with some .ini settings, but I have not been able to find it when I came to look for it :( It had about 4 things you can set to make the map clearer.

Remove the cloud textures from your map by entering this value

[MapMenu]
sMapCloudNIF=0

at the end of your C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Skyrim.ini

Please endorse if you like the tweak =)
Enjoy =)

i have my Skyrim.ini expanded from the console / saveini command thing. when you say to put this line in at the of the Skyrim.ini , you mean the very end/ last line after the language section? or in the map menu section.

Thank you to both of you! The ini tweak works! Now I can actually see the world. And Nikolas, you're video helped with extra tweaks to get rid of the blur. :)
