Turn off PitBoy 3000? (noob ?) : Fallout 3

One of the hints says that you can sneak better if you turn off the PitBoy. I can't find any control keys to turn that off. How do you do it?

By holding Tab for a few seconds (If you're on the Xbox 360/PS3: I mean the key you use to open your inventory) you can toggle the pipboy light on and off.

^^ And when you have 100 sneak I think this is also removed, and you can sneak with it on.
