Turret's degree of movment?

Post » Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:22 pm

So turrets aim and shoot at enemys but what degree do they turn. can they only look forward at 180 degrees? 100 degrees (no side shots, even tho they did that in the video) 360 degrees? (can shoot behind them) ok anyways if you kno just say.

Assuming it's like Quake War's turrets, It's around 180 degrees.

We don't know specific degrees. Just it will have limited targeting both horizontally and vertically.

180 seems about right since we know it won't be full and that op in the abilities vid had no problem sneaking up. I wonder what the range will be?

180 degrees, in one of the videos, i believe it was a matter of class, show a operator hacking it and it did not turn around to shoot him..

One of the old container city videos showed a turret firing at an enemy up to 30 feet.

Well as far we know it has a pretty decent distance judging from the container city videos.

I do wonder if they'll be any way to know where a turret is looking, like a laser protruding from the barrel or something, to show it's general line of sight.

There is no guarantee that the three turret abilities are progressively stronger versions of each other. The Chaingun turret could be specialized to take down infantry, sacrificing range for RoF and accuracy whereas the Medium turret could be a slower, firing long range support turret and the Light would be a front-line, general use turret.

However I am just entertaining myself and they probably are progressively better versions. Nevermind.

180o probably. That might just be for the fully upgraded turret though.

It only appears to be visible if you're standing right next to it, don't think you'd see it from, say, a few meters away.

Wonder if theres a tracer at the end of where the laser is pointing to.

And also, :ninja:

Do you think that if the turret fires it's goinv to be a hit no matter what? Or will there be a chance of miss?

Well the devs did say that lights would be able to run past turrets so I would say there is a chance of a miss

180, as seen in there Matter of Class video, an Operative comes up from behind the turret and it doesn't turn around.

I THINK they'll be able to turn 360, but they'll only turn when someone's within a narrow front arc. Would make sense.

I'd assume 10-12 bullets, maybe more that way an engineer can go back and repair his turret. And I'm assuming if you melée it will take 2-3 hits. That's IF you can melée turrets but I don't see why not. It would be cool if someone tries to bash your turret and it explodes in there face, taking a quarter or more of their health away.

As a heavy, I wouldn't walk through the line of sight of a turret.

As a light, you should be able to dodge it by sliding through it's FOV.
