Turrets: If my turret gets "sapped"...

Post » Fri Oct 01, 2010 5:44 pm

Say I am an engineer, and I set up a nice little turret in a perfect location... but NO, a sly operative saps it, controlling it for his own devious needs... my question is, can I as an engineer "sap" it back, or can a friendly operative "sap" it back for us? Or at that point do we have to just kill the controlling enemy operative and trash the turret? And lastly, can operatives ONLY sap turrets or can they svck down any engineer created electronics?

destoy it and place a new one? since leaving it to fire upon your teammates can do some herrasments, and they will probably return the fire. most logical. i havent heard of anything like "hacking" it back to its original owner but i think its possible, :)

while this is logical, my thought process was working towards the thinking that maybe making a new one would be out of scope until the next turret becomes available. granted that may only be a matter of a few moments, but just purely hypothetic that i wanted that specific turret back.

If I had to guess, I'd say a friendly operative would have to hack it back, rather then a engineer. That's my guess.

i dont think the "cooldown" will be to long and pain in the ass. but stil life goes on, turrets are meant to support, not kill :)

you are probably correct. the cool down is what i was concerned about. it seems logical that you would want to be placing as many turrets to support the squad as possible, and when one gets stolen, it would be more efficient use of "points" to steal one back and place another, instead of playing swap the spit.

I am sure I read or saw somewhere that engineers could build more than just turrets, like ammo dumps and health stations, am I right? Or am I thinking of another game?

I believe engineers can destroy the hacking boxes placed on their turrets.

This. A hacked turret is an enemy turret after all. Operatives hack enemy turrets.

I believe engineers can destroy the hacking boxes placed on their turrets.

There are hacking boxes placed on turrets?
I totally don't see that happening in the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGUv0MoP5Qs&#t=51s trailer.

I've heard hacking turrets does put a box on the turret, and SD have specifically said that "engineers can remove hacking boxes from hacked friendly turrets"

This. I remember hearing that also. Also I remember seeing that in, I think one of the Get SMART videos, where an engineer used the coolant or whatever on the hack box. I would assume the same for the ones on turrets
