Another what games you getting this year thread...

I think these threads should exclude Skyrim. Look, we know where we are, we know what series of games the vast majority of users on this board play, we know what most here are looking forward to right now.

I've actually never played it, but I figured I'd finish with my sentiments on the genre in its current state.

Well there's your problem. DICE has been doing this before everyone started complaining about all the shooters on the market. BF2 is pretty much one of the most highly praised multiplayer shooters ever and is really something special, so I have all the faith in the world that the trend will continue with BF3. There have been a few singleplayer modes added into the last two releases (BC and BC2), but those were a different style of battlefield, and not a true sequel.

Definitely buying:
Risen 2: Dark Waters
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
likely HoMM 6 too if it's out this year.

Probably... depends:
Skyrim
Dungeon Siege 3

What, really? Last think I heard was April/May.

That would be great. I know Q2 has been mentioned, but there is evidence, including on "The Hive", that is is delayed to August or afterwards
Who knows. Maybe it's a conspiracy ;)

How do you have time to play all this? :o

I'm leaning towards Skyrim only right now. Witcher looks cool, but my laptop's crappy graphics card wont be able to run it.

If I had to pick only two, Skyrim and Mass Effect 3.

Then Battlefield 3 and Zelda Skyward Sword.

Skyrim, and I'd swear there was another game that I can't remember because thoughts of Skyrim are so darn distracting . . .

Witcher 2, Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3. The holy trinity of games this year, no matter what takes GOTY I'm sure they'll all be astounding masterpieces. All three are on my MUST buy list this year.

I'm not a FPS fan, but I'm drooling over Battlefield 3 after watching that video.

Questions though: Will it still be a bunnyhopping mess with enemies automatically having a big red "I'm right here!" sign above their heads any time you mouse over them, even if it's a sniper in a ghille suit hiding in deep cover far away?

I very likely don't. Or, it takes me a year to a year and a half to crawl through all them (it's an unusually promising year for me when considering games) if I can afford them all in the end, that is - I'm really not sure about DS3 and HoMM 6 is mainly for the hotseat mode (and co-bought with a friend for that purpose). Anyway, keeps me nicely occupied for a good while.

For me the must haves are Skyrim, Rage, Mass Effect 3, LA Noire... Now I know that is four, but come on... there are so many awesome games coming out this year so that isn't even a portion of the games i plan to play this year.
