Two-Handed Specialisations?

Post » Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:25 am

So I'm playing as my lone wanderer called Durzub, and he uses heavy weapons along with light armour. Kind of a barbarian if you like, only with the addition of a heavy helmet.

I'm now at the point where I can choice to specialise in a particular weapon: Warhammers, Battleaxes, or Greatswords. For RP reasons I'd like to pick at least one. So here's two questions.

Which one should I pick for my build and RP?

And..

Which one do you like best? :)

About half of my Skyrim characters have been Greatsword, Light Armor characters. So my vote goes for Greatsword. :)

I like Greatswords the best, but Durzub sounds like a warhammer kind of guy.

I like a warhammer when I'm going 2H. I kind of like the 'going for broke' feel of just it being a MASSIVE HAMMER. I mean, a greatsword's just a great big sword, and a battleaxe is a gigantic axe, but there's something terribly satisfying about crashing a MASSIVE HAMMER down on your enemy's head. I think it suits an Orc, too, because they seem a very no-nonsense people.

He does indeed. However he's using a Battleaxe currently because it looks so badass his armour.

But I have Steel quality of all three Two-Handed weapons, and I just don't know which one I want to specialise in. He will be a dragon killing machine soon!

A battleaxe is a perfect balance between hammer and blade, if that suits him I'd stick with it.

Against humanoids, greatswords have the most entertaining killcams IMO.

However, if by 'specialize' you mean putting perk points into Deep Wounds, Skullcrusher or the battleaxe one whose name I forget - sadly, they're not worth very much. I think all of those perks work out to something like an extra 10 points of damage, even when you invest in all 3 levels.

If you've got lots of perk points to spare, I guess it couldn't hurt. I've taken Deep Wounds on one of my characters in the past, because IIRC that one also affects stagger chance.

I'm a battleaxe man but a mighty Orc needs a mighty warhammer to crush skulls like graqes.

There's a unique Orcish warhammer called the Longhammer that swings faster then a greatsword iirc or you could help your Tribesmen and obtain the mighty Volendrung.

The Longhammer huh? That sounds badass. And yes! That other weapon will be coming into Durzub's possession somewhere down the line!

The Warhammer perks are quite useless, as enemies don't have huge AR. I'm thinking of going with the Battleaxe, as that was the weapon he used to raid Bruma as well. :P

The perks are pretty lame, to be honest. The only good one at all is the warhammer one, but half the people are half naked or wearing robes to begin with.

IIRC, battleaxes swing just as fast as greatswords, or maybe it's the one handed versions.

You may be right about that, I think I remember reading something along those sorts of lines. I decided to go with the bleeding damage. It's the most useful, and Battleaxes look terrific on Durzub's sadistic back.
