Two questions about switching between Oblivion and Nehrim

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 10:44 am

I play a lot of Oblivion and I have only just started Nehrim but so far I absolutely love it, and at any given moment I may be playing one and decide that I want to play the other. I have two questions about switching between them:

1. I use a lot of mods with Oblivion. When I start Nehrim, I have to go in and disable all of my mods, which is a pain. When I decide I want to go back to Oblivion, I have to go in and reactivate all of the mods that I use, which is a bigger pain because I don't use all of the mods I have (some mods I need to have, but can NOT have activated) so I have to sort through which mods I should activate and which I should not. Is there a way to save my active mod list, so all I have to do is activate/deactivate them with just a click or two? I have Wrye Bash and OBMM and I'm willing to download others if there is such a way.

2. Is there a way to bring the HUD from Nehrim over to Oblivion? The text, the labels under the crosshair telling you what you are looking at, the health/magicka/fatigue/weapon/spell/wholeshabangdownintthebottomleftcorner, etc. Everything other than the inventory in the journal menu (literally the only thing I somewhat dislike about Nehrim so far) I've seen Darnified UI (I think that's what it's called) but I don't think they are quite the same, and I actually prefer the parchment theme to the dark red.

Thanks.

Darnified isn't dark red unless you choose that particular Darnified mod.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1118767-nehrim-and-mods/ has a lot of useful info on what you're looking for. You can customise DarN UI to get a pretty much Nehrim interface (though at a decent size, thankfully).

Hey thanks. I looked four threads deep for a thread like that and couldn't find it.

Edit: Just a quick yes or no though - is there a way to save my active mod list?

Set the plugins you need, find the load order text file (for OBMM it's in "\Oblivion\obmm\loadorder.txt") and copy it somewhere. Make your changes for the Nehrim and copy it's load order file some place else. Now all you have to do is overwrite the load order file when you need to switch between the two.

You could make a batch program real easy (I'll show you how) to do this automatically for you that way all you have to do is open a shortcut to the .bat file.

Use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119357-wipz-mtes4-manager/. It's made for switching between different copies of Oblivion.

Yeah, that would be nice. I assume that involves a little computer programming? I'm only just getting interested in programming (I only know some very elementary C++) so this might be a nifty exercise :)

So how would I go about doing that?

Batch files are easy to make. Easier than html. Just put your 'code' into a .txt file then save as a .bat file. Double click and it executes! VB Scripts are similar, but better me thinks.

Anyhow, it seems mTES4 is a much better solution. But if you are still interested in making batch files start out with some basics. http://academic.evergreen.edu/projects/biophysics/technotes/program/batch.htm

Another tool to switch between Oblivion-Installations is obl_loader, which you can find http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33581
