Two Questions of Detail

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:27 pm

Hi. My name is Donnie Wiseman and I am all about turning on my console and falling into another world aside from our messed up one (Isn't this why we play video games?) I wanted to ask two simple questions about the detail of Skyrim and if they will be incorporated into the game.

1. Will there be hair physics/clothes physics?
I realize that these details can be difficult to script and can cause major glitches, but if it can be done, is it or will it be in the game? I've always hated playing a game (in 3rd person of course) and your bold traveler's hair is unrealistically stiff. Also I always wanted an adventure game with (successful) cloaks (with hoods preferably) in the game with successful physics. I know this matter is irrelevant to a lot of people and I can over-look it if it isn't in there, but again, it would make the game all the more epic. Perhaps the best game in the world (to me).

2. In first person, will you be able to see your legs when you look down to the ground (as you are in the Halo games excluding the first)?
I've seen this topic throughout the internet and it is one I'd like to hear answered. In The Elder Scrolls V, will we still be a floating camera with arms attatched to it, or a human being in 1st person view? This detail is more important to me than dynamic physics on hair/clothing as it emensely adds realism to the game. I strongly suggest that players should be able to see their legs and feet when looking down. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare had no visible legs, but at least when you stood with your back to a corner where two walls intersect, you can't fully look down which doesn't fully imply youre just a pair of floationg arms. I hated how in The Elder Scrolls IV, you can stand with your back to a corner and look directly down without seeing anything. Basicly you are just floating mass with no shadow. I also hope you have a shadow in Skyrim as you do not in Oblivion (such as when you get on a horse especially).

These are questions I would love to be answered. I have already pre-ordered the game on 360. If these details are not in the game, I can deal with it. I simply request (that if these aren't already incorporated in the game) that these are added as they will add greater realism to the game. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Unfortunately, I think the answers to both questions is "No".

Personally I would love to see both things implemented... point 2 more than 1.
Just makes the character feel so much more material and real if you can look down and see your legs.

Yeah, these have been argued, debated, etc

Unfortunately I think the answer is no to both... ah well. Try out The Witcher 2 though, it has some great physics on the hair and armor/cloth. Though it's an actionRPG (3rd person) not 1st person like Skyrim.

Answer is no to both questions. I'd much rather have them work on dragons and combat revamp and quests instead of hair physics.

Skyrim is both 1st and 3rd person.

Not really. Skyrim is a 1st person game, that allows you to play in 3rd. It's still at heart a 1st person RPG. It's 3rd person mode is nothing like TW2's 3rd person gameplay.

The answers you seek are no and no. Go forth in wisdom, my son.

Nobody plays in 3rd person.

I play in both. 3rd person for melee and exploration.

Seeing your body in 1st person, like in Tribes 2, would be very cool.

That explains the forced 3rd person.

Those are great ideas for the next game though.

1st person for battles and indoor times of the game. But I do like to explore in 3rd person.

Wll, argonians and the cat people (dont want to try and spell it...) both have moveing tails, so im guessing that hair will probably move a bit and clothing might as well. One can hope at the least!

any of you ever play "Trespasser"? was a JP game in FPS (kinda, had a very interesting aiming system) where when you looked down all you saw was Bossom (PC was female) it was kinda funny. still I'm glad beth didnt go with this, just more crap to render in an already awesome looking world, I dont want my computer to melt...

PS wow T for Bosoom is a censor here, what the hell

To be able to see you legs/torso in fp has been long overdue in TES. That graphical aspect is becoming increasingly common in the new generation.

I hope they have these for Elderscrolls 6. Right now, they can get away with it because it's difficult to implement realistic hair when it takes a lot of time away from more important things.

However, you should be able to see your character's body as you look down. I don't mind that they don't have that for Skyrim, but I'd expect them to put it in the series eventually.

As for cloaks and hoods? Yes, totally. I want a hood that you can toggle and see your character toggle on and off. Again, maybe in Elderscrolls 6.

Technology should be better by 2016/17.
