My two requests

Could you please add a 'none of these' option to your poll?

It would defeat the purpose. Although I am using a Poll template, this is intended to be a petition, not a poll.
Therefore, by voting for one or the other you are petitioning for the the feature to be included.
Having a 'none of the above' would be petitioning for nothing. And would therefore be useless.

If I did intend for this to be a poll, then I would have added a 'none of the above' however it is not a poll.

I'm one of those people, but your explanation of it isn't quite right. I don't have any problem at all with crossbows, so long as they're balanced in-game. It should be set up so that every advantage they have over a bow is countered by a disadvantage, so that in the end, it just comes down to personal preference.

My problem though is that I cringed when I read: "Modders will be able to use them as templates for all kinds of ranged, and trigger operated weaponry." I understand that you're talking about mods, and therefore about things that are entirely optional, but I cringed anyway. Why? Because, to be brutally honest, gun nuts just creep me out.

See, and here's the thing - I grew up with guns - hunting and shooting trap. I own guns. I shoot guns. But I'm not obsessed with guns. And people who are obsessed with guns make my skin crawl.

Just about every forum I've ever been on for a game that doesn't currently include guns has a contingent of posters who argue incessantly for their inclusion. And it just... plain.... creeps me out. I have no idea what it is that compels a person to obsess about guns so much that it's not even enough to just play games that have them, but he has to try to get them shoehorned into games that don't have them.

So it's not really that I'm concerned about making the game too "modern," as just that when I see someone pushing toward the introduction of guns, it makes me want to go take a shower or something - like I need to wash the creepy off. And I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I understand that Gun-nuts creep you out. they creep me out too. But if someone does make a mod for firearms, no one would make you download it. If someone wanted to screw up their game by putting them in, I don't see why we should stop them.
Just don't think about the gun-nuts, pretend that they live on Jupiter.

Dragonborn1: No, modders can't add crossbows. Due to the restriction of no new weapon types.

I would like to see both of these from the start if anything. I mean, it seems kind of silly to wish for something to come in a DLC when the actual game hasn't come out.

I think crossbows would make a good DLC - for the reasons you suggest i.e those who want them can get them, those who do not want them can simply not bother.

While I certainly want to see crossbows, why DLC? I don't get it. It's not like Bethesda are making a game hoping everyone will do everything, it has never been the case in an ES game. They craft these games knowing probably most of the game won't even be touched by the majority, why then ask about crossbows as a DLC? Why not just ask them to be in the game from the get-go?

Except that they're not going to look at a single forum post which allows for 0 opposition.

If this gets 10,000 people for it, that'd be amazing. But if there's no option BUT to vote for it, the number is much less impressive. How people don't want it? Could be twice as many as are for it. If you have any intention of this being a real petition, you have to allow for opposition.

The reason that political petitions don't allow for opposition is as follows: Petitions are the first step in the public political process. They can be debated publicly later. Video games don't work the same way. A thread that garners support is the FIRST AND LAST chance of players to add in their opinion.

Now, if you're deliberately ignoring opposition to improve the standing of your own opinion, then more power to you. In the interest of fairness, though, I really would like a 'none of these' option.

And I'm hoping we the players don't reward the industries rip-off techniques, and don't start asking for DLC months before launch!
If you're going to ask for something this early, you should ask for it to be in the base game, not for us to pay more.

Exactly. I hate it that everyone is talking about DLC for games months before they even come out now. It just makes no sense to ask them to make us pay extra for things when the game isn't even out yet.

A lot of people complain about the horse armor dlc.....while I think everyone can admit it wasnt the greatest choice I didnt mind it whatsoever. I actually loved the idea of the game adding something that wasnt there before. My only beef was the cost/content. I felt it should have been VERY cheap considering the small amount of content it had.

I hope that DLC in the future does add new weapons/items/etc. I would love to see a 'weapon' dlc that added a bunch of new weapons and items, or something like that. If it were reasonably priced and had lots to offer, Id have no complaints. However if a DLC comes out and is simply "Crossbow" and costs 5 bucks, Im not going to buy it.

Id like to see DLC that adds new areas, new items, new enemies, and new quests, not necessarily all in one package but you get the idea. Just price it well and make sure the content is worth it and Im happy.
