Two Worlds II - PC or Console?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:56 am

Hi,

Im going to buy Two Worlds II as a filler between now and Skyrim but unsure of what version to buy, I own a decent spec PC and a PS3. I know that the game has been released in mainland Europe but the UK and US versions are delayed until mid Feb due to shipping issues.

Anyone out there got any advice on what the superior version would be? Right now im sideing with getting the PC version because im guessing the visuals will be that little bit crisper.

If you have a capable PC, there's no game that's ever better on a console. This shouldn't even be a decision.

Ditto. I have it on PC and with DX10, on top of pretty graphics, i get a nice space heater.

I would consider the PC Version, if the game is buggy, then talented modders create unofficiall patches and mods to enhance the game.
And yes as you say, PC versions tend to be more crisper graphics wise, but depending on your system hardware of course it will play better or worse, if anything a advanced PC with up to date hardware renders consoles puny in comparison.

I wouldn't recommend either. It's the worst piece of rubbish I've had the misfortune to waste 20 hours playing in years. Don't let the pretty screenshots fool you; It's a case of buyer beware here I'm afraid.

Except for bad ports, which isn't the case for TT2. Another reason to get a PC version is that it is mod-able, though the available mods are few the last I checked.

Enough with the good things, now on to the bad, seriously, you can consider renting it. It is considerably short, and once you pass a certain point, you are overpowerful (though there are still enemies which are insanely h4x/broken/buggy that are near-impossible to kill).

I managed to finish the 'tutorial' and can't be assed about even starting the game.

We Elder Scrolls fans need to support Two Worlds II and other attempts at making open world RPGs! And 2W2 is a great game.

I disagree. I think we need to be honest so that devlopers know when they've dropped a turd like TW2 on our laps. So hopefully they won't keep making the same mistake. It doesn't seem to have worked with Topware. Two below par titles in a row, and they have the gall to call them AAA and sell them at AAA prices.

Thanks for all the advice,

I will get the PC game via a trade in so it wont cost me much.

Suprised that some people are slating the game as the reviews are genrally decent with the voice acting ect being the main gripe, I love open world RPG's so I think I will def get something from it.

It's all down to taste I guess, we all like different elements in games....I have a mate who thinks Fallout 3 is pure garbage as it doesent have any boss monsters. I like Oblivion esque games more for the exploration and nice enviorments so I can overlook a bit of dodgey gameplay and voice acting.

Luckily for you (or unlucky if the game turns out to be horrible ;) ), you're still able to get the PC version. Canadian and American customers have to get a UK version imported to us since they decided to not distribute them to us.

Some people love Morrowind, some people hate it. Some people love Oblivion, some people hate it. Same thing is going to be for TW 2. I think there is a demo for it. I could be wrong, but if there is a demo, try it out first.

its not has bad as people have made it out to be. to be honest though i had more fun with dragon knight saga. they are both above average games and i would give the graphics and magic system edge to two worlds 2 but over all world and storyline to dragon knight saga. it also has one of the best endings for an rpg in recent history. i instantly thought of the ending from the movie "the mist". it was hilarious.

There are exceptions, like when the PC version is a bad port from the console version or is otherwise buggy and also not moddable (Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth being a good example), but yeah.

If it's not a racer, and your rig is decent, there really is no decision, pc. Wish I could say the same, my comp is very underwhelming.

Canadian here and I couldn't find Two Worlds 2 in the store so I grabbed it off of Steam. Played it for a couple days and I'm having fun with it. :frog:

I tried the demo, and I got dizzy playing it on the PC. Also I didn't like the control scheme at all on the keyboard. Maybe I am to use to the controller. Still I am very scared how it is controlled
on the console then if I didn't like it on the PC at all. Instead of moving the character, it's like you are moving the room, if you know what I mean. It may not be the case, but from me getting
dizzy and being very awckward to navigate, I don't recomoned it at all. I suggest get the demo first.

Hopefully they will have a demo for the consoles to try out. It does look promising though as a filler, but to actually play it and not get dizzy is a different matter now.

What PC demo? I don't see one anywhere, not even on the official site. Anyhow, no dizzyness here and the controls work very well IMHO. svcks you have dizzyness... :sadvaultboy:

Unfortunately for me, I prefer purchasing a physical copy of the games I purchase. I like having the disc, manual, box, and any other goodies that come with the game.

When I get some extra cash, I will probably just end up buying the UK version since it is compatible with my system.

Ya same here with the preference of having a physical copy, but what happened was my brother bought it for PS3, then I wanted the damned thing after watching him play with it and I got fed up with the whole waiting thing... :obliviongate:

Let me know how the game is once you've finished it(it should be quite a while if it's the same size as Two Worlds I). :)
