Two Worlds II

You can backtrack to previous islands. Some are pretty damn big, other smaller.

So you're not restricted to one island at a time? And I can island hop whenever I want? Like if I'm island 3 I can go back to island 2 and do side quests?

Yes. Some quests even require you to island hop.

Thank you very much. This was the deciding factor of whether I got it or not. I saw a video of someone with a boat. I'm guessing that's one way you can get island to island and another would be magic?

I was watching a gameplay vid of Two Worlds II a month or two ago and it seemed like to be a warrior/mage hybrid type (Battlemage, Spellsword, etc.) the player had to change entire outfits to perform certain actions. Like to fight with a sword, he had to put on his suit of heavy armor, but to cast like a fireball spell or something he had to change into a robe and wizard's hat. Was this just the way he was playing or is this forced in the game?

I like Two Worlds II a fair bit. I'm not having many of the "bugs" that people are pointing out, but I don't doubt they are there. To me Two Worlds II is a VAST improvement over the first, so ignore anyone coming in here and saying "based on the first one...", what they have to say it totally irrelevant in this case. It's NOT an Elder Scrolls game, nor is it trying to be an Elder Scrolls copycat, so trying to compare the two series' game play is futile. It'd be like trying to compare an MMA game to Street Fighter.

There are no classes in TWII, you can build your character up in any way you want. The leveling is done by experience points like most RPGs.

If I had to be honest, and compare my enjoyment of TWII and Oblivion, I'd say I'm enjoying Two Worlds II right of the box WAY more than I enjoyed Oblivion straight out of the box.

I don't think it's out where I am yet so can you tell me if the voice acting is better? I found it so horrendous in the first one that I wasn't able to go very far at all (it's one of my pet peeves, and I couldn't ignore it in TW), but I've heard good things about the sequel - but if the VA is that bad again, I'm afraid it's a deal breaker for me.

Thanks I'll check out dragon age. Is it pretty open world like tes? Also, I've seen some feedback on two world II and supposedly its been upgraded quite a bit from the first one.

Actually Two Worlds II is a more TES style game than Dragon Age. Dragon Age is more like KotOR or Mass Effect.

Two Worlds II is open world and has an assortment of skills to master along with quests

I can't lie and tell you the voice work is amazing this time around. It's better than the original, but it's still pretty abysmal.

This is not forced. Like most games there are penalties for trying to cast spells in heavy armor, and bonuses for using spell casting robes. If someone was concerned with min/maxing the game, then I could see them doing this...but I can cast spells in my armor...and use my sword in a robe.

In one of the reviews I read it said that you HAVE to have a staff equipped to cast spells though. Is this true? They were saying something like you can have three "loadouts" equipped and they stayed away from magic because they would of had to use up one of the hotkey loadouts on a staff?

This is true. It's really not that big of a deal though.

You staff is basically your spellbook. You load spell card combinations into a staff to create spells. (or something.... haven't dabbled in magic)

So you have different staffs for different spells and spell combos? Can you dual wield and have staff in one hand and sword in other or dual wield staffs?

I think staffs are two handed.

Staves are two handed.

You have different staves for each school of magic. You get a bonus to your skill in the school that corresponds to the staff you are using. You can cast any spell with any staff however.

You can download it without signing up, but you can't play it so there isn't much point. :)
