Two Worlds II

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:26 am

For anyone who has played can you give a little review. I'm starving for an open world rpg, especially one to tide me over til skyrim.

Does two world II have classes? Skills? How does the gameplay and leveling compare to TES?

Any feedback much appreciated.

Have you played Dragon Age yet? It's not exactly open world but if you crave a good RPG it will sate your hunger. It's even a question wether you would be finished with it when Skyrim is released.

Dragon Age is not that long.... I'd say around 50 hours.

I've only ever played the original two worlds and I have to say that it was quite bad and unentertaining. If two worlds II is similar to that of the first one than it will be uncomparable to TES games. My advice is to play dragon age, then upgrade to II when that comes out fairly soon. Its a great game and there is great replayability to it as well.

Thanks I'll check out dragon age. Is it pretty open world like tes? Also, I've seen some feedback on two world II and supposedly its been upgraded quite a bit from the first one.

It didn't come out in America yet, so don't expect much feedback until the end of the month.

Yea it comes out the 25th. I saw someone in the skyrims forum imported it guess I'll pm him. There's a few reviews on metacritic but they are all in different languages so I can't read them.

If its anything like the first don't bother with it anf go for Dragon Age like the others have said. Its not as open world as TES or FO but is much more story driven.

How open world is dragon age? One minute can I be picking ingredients in the middle of no where, the next minute reading one of several books in my home, the next minute crafting a new spell or enchanting, the next minute dungeon diving wherever my hearts content, the next minute just traversing the land on horse or foot going wherever I desire....................oh I long for the next elder scrolls...skyrim!

Yes, afterall, it is a Bioware game and they are REALLY good with deep stories with plot twists and good dialouge...well, most of the time, but no game is perfect. Only drawback is its a short-ish game, I mean, if you only play a couple hours a day it'll prbably take you a week or two. But if you sit down for a lazy weekend (like me) it'll be complete before you even have to return it :P

Edit: Oh, I meant "before you have to return it" because in my case I rented it....which I would actually recommend doing because IMO its a niche game and its best not to commit like 30-40 bucks to a game you might not like.

PS: lots of DLC too, which is good and bad, good because its a lot of extra content but at the same time its a lot of extra downloading and $$$ which is a pain.

PPS: To answer your above question; no, its not open world in the sense you will be reading books in your house and doing other day-to-day stuff, think of it more as story driven rather than open world driven.

Dragon Age is only open world in that you can choose which order to do the main quests in. Other than that, it's very linear.

Not at all really, its pretty linear. It was too linear for my tastes, beat it once and returned it. It also suffers from EA nickel&diming tactics.

So is two world II open world where I can go to any part of the map I want? I read some stuff saying the story is in chapters? How linear is that game? Is the map still wide open for exploration. In elder scrolls you finish your character creation and are placed in the world free to go wherever you want and do whatever you want.

Its open world, but has its flaws. Frame-rate stutters some times, hit detection is terrible with all forms of combat and archery is really terrible. You can only sneak up on certain immobile NPCs. So you basically have psychic enemies. Its basically a lukewarm appetizer until Skyrim comes.

You can go almost anywhere on an island once you unlock said island, which requires finishing the main quest line on the previous island.

Whoa how many islands are there? When you progress in the main story and unlock islands can go travel back and forth between islands or are you stuck to a specific one depending on where you are in the story? Are these islands comparable to cyrodiil in size?

Can you backtrack to all the islands? I've read there are four islands and you unlock them as your progress through the story but once I leave the first island or second island can you go back? Or are you stuck on one island at a time?

I like Two Worlds II a fair bit. I'm not having many of the "bugs" that people are pointing out, but I don't doubt they are there. To me Two Worlds II is a VAST improvement over the first, so ignore anyone coming in here and saying "based on the first one...", what they have to say it totally irrelevant in this case. It's NOT an Elder Scrolls game, nor is it trying to be an Elder Scrolls copycat, so trying to compare the two series' game play is futile. It'd be like trying to compare an MMA game to Street Fighter.

There are no classes in TWII, you can build your character up in any way you want. The leveling is done by experience points like most RPGs.

If I had to be honest, and compare my enjoyment of TWII and Oblivion, I'd say I'm enjoying Two Worlds II right of the box WAY more than I enjoyed Oblivion straight out of the box.

You can backtrack to previous islands. Some are pretty damn big, other smaller.
