Types of Dark Arts Spells you would like to see in Skyrim

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 9:50 pm

Hello everyone just made this thread to hear your ideas and suggestions for dark arts spells, could be anything, just think of magic that you would consider to be evil, nothing elemental, more like spells with special effects. (example: skull of corruption, the corruption spell effect)

A spell that damages health and upon killing someone has a summon undead effect (simulating raising the corpse again).

Very long time paralise effect with a slow killing effect.

Make the tartet flee and drain his/her speed.

thats a cool idea, i thought a spell that when shot with turned you into a red skeleton, like your flesh was consumed, and a spell that poisons

Becoming a Lich would be pretty cool. In any case, they should definitely expand on Necromancy.

thank you i would love to become a lich its my #1 hope for skyrim, and back to the thread i think they should add a spell for the necromancer, i seen it as a mod for oblivion, you find bones a skull a rib cage and so on then you cast one of the create spells to create a permanent minion that you can command, make an army, or tell them to stand guard at your lair.

EDIT: i always wanted a spell that turned you into a phantom, like a mirage image sketchy and transparent, it could be useful too, like say theres a barred gate infront of a long forgotten passage way, and you could just slip right through.

Supreme Magicka mod for Oblivion: Etheral State, makes you a ghostly figure for 15 sec, immune to normal weapons as a result. No passing through walls though. Hope you're on PC. Oh, the magic school used for this? Surprise: Mysticism.

Flesheater spell - Turns npc'es into bloody skeletons

Eerie hand's spell - On touch the spell freezes enemies and summons a dark spirit who drains the paralyzed victims health and gives it onto the player?

Cold orbit spell - Creates a wall of damaging orbirts around the victim, damage their armor and weapons and leaves the victim extremely vulnerable for attack's from the player

Embrace the dead spell - Summon a group of undead too attack

hehe, something like this?

Darken, Like the light spell only a dark aura goes around you.
Great for assasin/thieve users. And would look a bit cooler than chameleon, but cost less magicka since you also can't see very well out of it (lol).

Mind Breaker, pretty much a induce crazy spell only its a mix of, demoralize, frenzy, heroism(courage), sleep, and als a chance for them to run around in circles, kill themselves, etc.
Its completely random which effect will occur. Has a decent magicka cost, to compensate the unpredictability of the spell.

Apathy - NPC will find some way to kill themselves by either running into an agressive enemy, finding water and drowning themselves, or jumping off a high cliff or something. Has high magicka cost.

You guys can make up names, I'm to sleepy to figure out some.

Darkness was listed as an effect in the CS for Oblivion, but tagged as DO NOT USE - does anyone know what this was ever used for? Feature cut perhaps?

Dark Mind Control: cast on an npc and they become your obediant slave/meat shield. However, your mana drains slowly the longer you control him/her, which simulates the npc's mind fighting back against your will. When your mana runs out, the npc breaks free. Of course, the more mana you have, the longer they stay within your grasp

Plague of Undeath: Similar to soultrap, cast upon enemy, and upon its death it arises again as a permanent zombie slave. Any foe the zombie kills from that point on has a chance of becoming a zombie as well

And if you get to become a Lich...

Soul Steal: instantly kill a target by stealing its soul MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!111!!!!!!1 (yes i know thats a rip off the lich mod in OB lol)

I think it was in daggerfall as another spell or it did something similar.

I just thought back to it and thats what I thought it did.

there not overpowered unless you start out with them im talking powerful enemies and what? your supposed to be a lowly level mage, when i play skyrim, every perk, every boost of magicka ,anything i can do to make my sorcerer more powerful to actually cast these spells will be done, just look at mannimarco, thats what i aspire to become, except not that weak meatsuit version from oblivion i mean the true god of worms, cause his spells would F*** you up and thats what im looking for.

EDIT: and how are these a thousand times overpowered? there dark arts spells there not play nice together boring old regular mage spells there supposed to insane thats why there dark arts spell, BECAUSE ITS DARK ARTS

I thought you would never ask:

1- Grave beam: a continuous beam of death energy that damages enemy health as long as you channel the spell.
2- Bone spear: summon a bone spear and hurl it at the enemy impaling them.
3- Poison cloud: an explosion of poison emanates from the caster spreading a deadly toxic cloud all around him blinding enemies in the process.
4- Bone shards: a cascade of bone shards shots out of the caster's hand damaging enemies as the caster holds the torrent of sharp deadly disease infested shards.
5- Decay: slowly melt the target's flesh with a deadly curse.
6- Magic missile: a Magnificent and colorful spell of pure magic energy that is the staple of every caster, higher levels increase number of missiles and adds a homing effects as well.
7- Blood explosion: a curse that affects the target's blood causing massive internal damage if the targets dies under its effect he will explode and damage all nearby creatures.
8- Siphon life: svck the life out of your target transferring it to you.
9- Siphon magicka: svck magicka out of the target.
10- Bone torrent: summon a vortex of bones that spines at insane speed around the caster damaging and pushing back all targets.
11- Confuse: a curse of confusion that makes targets fight each other.

I have more but that's all I will write now :P

I don't have anything specific in mind, but I really like what Bioware did with Dragon Age in this regard. It would be nice if there were some social implications or consequences for using a particularly evil school of spells.

Uh... one of them was "turn your enemy into a bloody skeleton".

So... instant death to anyone plus get yourself a free minion? Yeah... that's not overpowered.

Having a bunch of spells way more powerful than normal spells creates an unbalanced game. Nah, guys, don't worry about all the other parts of the game, the only good way to win is top become a lich. You can't just make something way more powerful than anything else because you feel like it. Regardless of how cool it might be, all avenues should be able to become equally powerful.

1- Good idea
2 - It's called summon weapon
3- Okay idea
4- Um... it's alright
5- Damage health/fatigue?
6- Why is generic magic ball a lich thing?
7- So it's damage health, but why would someone's guts exploding cause any damage?
8- Ever heard of absorb?
9- See 8
10- This just sounds a bit silly
11- It's called frenzy

1- ty :P
2- not a spear spear it will be like a magic projectile that launches from the caster made from bones (think diablo 2)
3- ty
4- Ok
5- Nope it melts target slowly its about better animation to be honest :shocking:
6- Meh I know but I always liked this spell but they never add it to TES
7- Because if you raise the body pressure high enough and it explodes the bone/tissue fragments will act like a frag grenade.
8- Thats the point but with better animations
9- Same as 8
10- A tornado of sharp bones and skulls whirling around you is silly! its very necromantic if you ask me.
11- I guess your right :)

After killing a creature, cast [insert spell name] on the carcass which will raise it's soul to fight along side you for a limited time. At higher levels you could do the same with NPCs.

Why wasn't poison damage in the spellmaking altar list, when weakness to poison was?
