Types of dragons

I want some elemental dragons, maybe some dragons that breathe frost, poison, etc. Not just fire, because there could be an exploit that gives you 100% fire resistance. Thoughts?

I'd like the idea, but i would want the "fire dragon" to be the most common..because to me, thats what a dragon is...big lizards that can fly and breath fire.

Yeah I agree, but like have the rarer types of dragons have different elemental attacks or something unique about them. Like fire dragons can be considered raiding dragons, as they would be the most likely to ravage a town and set it ablaze. But if there are dragon nests (here's hoping), have like elder dragons of sorts have special attacks so dragon fights don't become repetitive.

It's confirmed that there are different types of Dragons. Who knows, we may indeed see different "elements" of dragons, etc. Not a bad idea.
I'm all for diversity; I don't want every Dragon to look alike. Preferably, I'd want no Dragon to look alike. But here's to wishful thinking. :)

Well seeing as how the majority of the Bethesda devs are hardcoe dungeons and dragons fans, dragons that breathe lightning and frost are entirely plausible. I for one think that they are going to be in the game and they just used the fire ones on the trailer cus thats what everyone visualizes when they see a dragon, but thats just my opinion and speculation so saying that is a moot point.

Sounds good. I like the variety of choice in dragons, rather than the typical fire-breathing one.

It has been confirmed that there will be different types/races of dragons, they wont all look and act the same, some will be huge and others will be smaller attacking in packs. I also think it will be certain there will be a super rare/boss type dragon that is the hardest of them all.

I think they showed fire breathing because that would most likely be the most common, maybe as dragons age they gain more abilities? They start with fire, and could possibly evolve? I just feel like walking into a cave and be blasted with lightning from a dragon would make me pee my pants haha

Where did you get the info that dragons attack in packs? When was that said?
Can you post links? I've read just about every part of coverage and I've never read that.

Variation is always a good thing. I hope for different kinds of dragons.

My initial thoughts?

1) Sure, I'd love to have a variety of dragons. With only 20(?) it'd be pretty easy to do. Elemental, invisible, comflaged, good, human form, etc!

2) gee, why is getting yourself all prepped for a battle with a 100% resistance to anything an exploit? It sounds like using your resources well, like 50% enchants on armor, plus a potion and a ring.

3) And, couldn't there also be a 100% resist whatever to the others as well? Should detect life be out because I can see invisible and chamelioned dragons?

The dragons are NOT elemental. They don't breath fire because they are fire dragons. They breath fire because it is a Shout ability. There may also be shouts that freeze people, but then there are also shouts that slow time, push people back, and do other things. That doesn't make them, Time and Telekinesis dragons.

Since Dragons are central to the game, I am guessing that the whole Dragon experience will be quite complex and built up.

Some of the things I am hoping for (in addition to the whole acquiring and using of dragonshouts):

  • A Fully realized dragon cult (with lore, quests, etc) - I believe I remember something mentioned about a Dragon Cult in one of the videos or articles. The cult will probably have a whole back story and, since you are the dragonborn, you will be central to that.
  • Each dragon is unique with his/her own personality, abilities and story.
  • Special dragon items to find throughout the game.

I am sure that Bethesda has many exciting "dragon things" in store for us in Skyrim.
