Typical Bosmer Cannibalism Question

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 2:38 am

Do the Bosmer from Valenwood (I know about the other provinces) still practice cannibalism, or did that go out of style for them, with only a few tribes still practicing it?

No new information really, it could have changed or maybe it did not. To many factors in play to make a real good guess. Simply put however Bosmer that follow Y'ffre and the Green Pact would still do it, those that don't probably don't.

I was under the impression that cannibalism happens only during the orgiastic rituals that follow the wild hunt. Also, it's interesting to note, about the green pact, that Bosmer apparently use vegetal raw materials as long as they're not harvested in their homeland woods.

I'll use another question to answer your question:

Do the altmer still practice eugenics by murdering children?

Basically, I think it's out of date, but old habits die hard, so most bosmer love to eat meat. Cannibalism isn't socially acceptable anymore, but it is still practiced by a select few.

We don't even know they (or most of them) did; it's mentioned only in PGE1 and could be imperial propaganda.

And their lifespans are longer than 200 years, so they could be very well practicing it.
We don't know the thalmor's stance on the matter though...

The Bosmer are a scattered people, they've always had been even under the Camoran Dynasty which caused them to become more stuck in their ways. My best guess is that some clans and tribes that worked closely with either the Imperials at the Cyrodilic border or the Altmer at the sea shore probably have stopped eating their grandmother dearest after her untimely death, with Bosmer living in the heartwoods of Valenwood keeping the tradition alive. We're told in game that Thalmor agents often purge entire clans in Valenwood. For all we know, they could be traditional Bosmer. In the end, nothing much is known about the custom at this time.

I should have been more clear. That was my point, especially regarding the bosmeri cannibalism.

Have you got a source for the purges? Not doubting it, but I haven't come across it...

Delphine tells you. She says something along the lines of: His family was killed in one of their purges that no one ever hears about.

[censored]. I remember that. I'm sure there is a logical explanation. They were probably evil or bred with men or something equally filthy.
