Tytanis is god.

It has some interesting stuff like that, but it adds so much ridiculous crap that's it's not worth it.

Wow, having ready the notes on http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1601, I'm a little overwhelmed.

I like a lot of what was done with crafting. Specifically, I like the arrows and ability to melt down items.

However, there appears to be some really unbalanced stuff as well. The rings of power, for example. Also this:

"Warmaster (Two-handed) will now grant you the ability to DUAL WIELD TWO-HANDED WEAPONS. You may hold a Greatsword with another Greatsword together or mix it up! You can also just hold one two-hander and use the other hand freely."

That's too much.

Exactly! Sure, it is awesome that the PC gamers are getting mods that adds great stuff to the game, but it doesnt make the GAME better..

Yes it does.

Modding is a feature supported by Bethesda and it's an integral part of Skyrim for PC, thus making the game better even if it's only for PC players. Same can be said for Xbox users who get DLCs 30 days earlier then everybody else.

Unless it becomes available to console then no, Skyrim is not on it's way to greatness.

You know, you can always hook a PC up to an HDTV and then use an Xbox 360 Controller. You can pretend its a console! :tops:

I am wary of anything that calls itself an "ultimate mod". Too many changes under the hood, not always advertized.

This is exactly what I believe to be the difference between PC gaming and console gaming.

If you're JUST doing the quests and don't really care about all the sandbox stuff, maybe mods won't make a huge difference for you.

If you like to explore the game and rejuvenate it for years by adding content, gear, animals, houses, new skills, NPCs, new spells etc., they DO change the game. And there will also be mods that actually add quest lines etc., mods the size of DLC, and also mods that change the entire foundation of your character development and the actual gameplay.

So your statement is 100% fail. Sorry.

Indeed.
"Ring of Talos - Reduces the Shout cooldown to zero"
Just imagine how ridiculous it would be.

I shy away from the over the top mods. I always preferedd Francesco's overhaul to OOO for instance. I plan on making a few mods once the kit comes out, it will not depart terribly from Vanilla but instead try to enhance what is already there.

That's a little weird. I was also put off by the idea of those mounts.

I still like the idea of craftable arrows, though. I dunno. I guess I'll have to go look at the nexus.

If crafting arrows is all you're looking for, have a gander at "Arrowsmith". That's the mod I use or that purpose.

Tytanis looks pretty cool, but honestly it has a lot of stuff I'm just not interested in. I find that for the most part, I can find the things I want to add to my game, or change my game with through individual mods designed just for that purpose. Nexus manager makes installing and keeping track off them a snap, too. I may check it out later though, when it's had a chance to mature.

If I can get my PC to run it without getting a new graphics card, then yes I will use mods. Until then, gotta play on PS3 lol.

for the record, it says I can run it at medium settings but the best I can get it is 20 FPS at absolute lowest settings. Sometime, when I feel like it, I'll try that 4GB mod that is supposed to allow all processors to help with skyrim. I have 6, only uses 2 from what I know.

The best is yet to come. If the community can do everything it's done, without tools; imagine when they have an entire creation kit at their disposal.

Unless it becomes available to console then no, Skyrim is not on it's way to greatness.

I've been watching this mod, I'm waiting until it's polished some more.

U'd be surprised (or maybe not) at how fast they fix and clean things up, all the while adding new awesomeness. It's quite impressive

Not to be insulting, but this mod looks like it was put together by a 5-year-old. "I want that! And THAT! And THAT! And THAT! I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT THE PRETTY SHINY!!"

(guess that was a bit insulting, sorry)

While I can appreciate the effort and the brain work behind this, as susurrus mentioned, its much too all over the place for me. And those mounts... ugh. They're cool, but this isn't world of warcraft. >.<

But then, I like my RPGs to be more grounded.

Wow, i thought "animal mounts" meant something upon which taxidermy trophies could be displayed in one's house. Imagine my overwhelming disappointment when I saw someone running around on a sabretooth. Hella gay.

I used Tytanis before it was mainstream. Rawr. Or perhaps I was among the people making it mainstream. T'least it wasn't one of the most popular mods at the time. I'm awesome. Cheers. :celebration:

Indeed. And you start banging your head against compatibility issues in the most unexpected of places.

I'm one for picking up mods for the features I want. Whenever a mod adds crap I don't want, I steer clear.

But as I said, one can still appreciate the hard work and the talent.

the mods allow skyim to surpass even greatness. I hope mods do come to the console for you ...

Pipe dream for us Console users. Best hope is Bethesda sees good mods that they can approach the authors about including into a DLC for us console users.

Shouldn't this thread go in the mods forum? Its less likely to get trolled by console users there.

No cause we troll there too. LOL

Yeah. I'd be upset. Though in this case the fault is with MS and Sony. Not to fan any flames, but this is one of the rare instances when console players are feeling left out in the cold. Those of us in the PC world have watched most of our favorite series move towards console-friendly design.

On topic, does anyone with that mod think that he has added too much? A lot of overhauls don't balance so much as add a bunch of uber items.

I can't fault MS & Sony for wanting to protect their machines and worry what a "mod" might do. There in the business to make money, anything that might put that revenue flow at risk won't be tolerated or allowed.

Awww, poor console babies. I say you get exactly what you deserve for not having the breadth of mind or intelligence to see how inferior consoles are, were, and will always be.

This makes me laugh.

I don't think I've ever played a buggier game than Skyrim, and I'm pretty sure it's because it wasn't made for PC in the first place. I was never really worried, though, cause I know it'll all be fixed either by Beth or via mods. I do feel sorry for those who will never be able to experience these mods, though, and I also do wish Skyrim had been made for PC first, and then ported to console. It would have made it so much better to begin with. Now we just have to wait for mods instead.

You must have never played 'Temple of Elemental Evil' by Atari/Hasbro. If it weren't for the 'mod' community at Circle of Eight the game would probably have been unplayable. As it is I still get plenty of replay value out of it using their patches and mods. And that was a PC only game. So buggy isn't a fault of PC vs Console, it's just poor testing.

------------------------------------
I play it on the console(XBox) primarily. My 11yr old plays it on his account on the console as well. He can play it on mine in the rec room, or on his in the playroom. Never stepping into my office and using my computer for it. That is where the superiority of the consoles reign. With kids.
While PC Gamers can call them 'dumbed down', it is the casual gamers and kids of the console world that drives the industry. Not the PC Gamer.
The PC Gamer drives the spec limits. But without the casual gamer funnelling the revenue stream, ain't no one going to pump a lot of money into a stand alone PC game anymore.
The company is there to make money, that is why you have minimum specifications that allow for the $500 computer to run them. They want the widest base of customers as possible. Just plain simple economics.

The game is good, it could be better. PC's have the advantage that the community will make mods for it immediately. Consoles get to wait for Updates and DLC's.

But I do have a PC copy on order for delivery, mainly because I want the mods the community has come up with. :D So I'm going to have the best of all worlds. :D

I appreciate the skill and dedication behind this mod but whenever I see so much being added so quickly, I get the feeling that all of this stuff can't be properly thought out. This is a kind of mod that requires a lot of planning since it meddles with so much stuff, I doubt it has consistency, balance and grounded justification in the world of TES.

Having said that though, I haven't tried it, so I could be wrong. It has interesting ideas and potential so I'm tracking it. Hopefully, it will slow down on new additions and get some polish and overall consistency.
