Ubisoft confirms 3 video game-based movies

Interesting, I won't pass judgement until I actually see them.

I'm excited for the AC movies but I do hope they don't decide to stuff it all in a 2.5 hour movie just to please/attract a larger crowd. AC's storyline is too complicated for that, they'd have to crop out a ton of things. And that's a big nono.
I had a feeling that they were going to do AC based movies for a while, a couple of months ago Ubisoft had posted a survey on their site with questions about your opinion on video-game based movies and how interested we were in movies based on AC, and if yes, which one (Alta?r or Ezio).
I hope it will be similar to Lineage, that one was perfect.

The various AC spinoffs into other media has gone well so far (imo), so I'm excited for the AC movie as well. Its one of the most versatile IPs atm, I'd say. The other two aren't really my sort of thing.

I predict all of these being poor. The only redeeming quality will be the spastic action and possibly the CGI.

Still better than the old videogame movie standard of everything being crummy.

Well that, and we're talking Ubisoft. Just imagine..."You cannot view this movie. Please upgrade your brain so our DRM can function as desired." ;)

Assassin's Creed might be good. The other one's could be good to, but I'm not sure what will happen. I mean what they did to prince of persia was.... i guess ok... but it wasn't the greatest. First of all, I didn't know persians were british.

Did I miss something - are we now living in an alternate universe where videogame movies are actually any good? :P

After the travesties that were the Hitman and Max Payne movies, and given the poor history of really awful videogame-to-movie adaptations, I have little hope for these three newest attempts. The last developer to try this move, Square-Enix, didn't exactly succeed either with their Final Fantasy movies (despite how hard they tried...)

I personally think that the Ghost Recon film could end up being the best of the three...although, as we've all said, it would have to be done properly. I just think it could be a really epic war film :)

As for the Halo 'mini-series', are you referring to Legends?

This...I wasn't a fan of Spirits Within, but Advent Children? The CGI was unbelievable, and I liked the story too

mini series

Halo Legends was pretty mediocre but it was still better than the mini series

So did I, but for all their effort they lost something on the order of 56 million dollars from the first one alone... That's quite a flop. ;)

Rather than trying to find actors, why not just do as was done in Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within?

Certainly CGI animation is sophisticated enough that they could do a realistic looking movie without needed actors who may or may not succeed in portraying the fictional character.

The Splinter Cell Movie's been talked about since Chaos Theory. There was an advert for the movie on the game disc.

They HAVE to get Michael Ironside to voice him. However, he could be too old to play the character.

Difficult one.

With the right amount of makeup and visual effects like what they did with Jeff Bridges in Tron, they could make him look young enough to maybe capture what he looked like during Conviction. But they're going to need a stuntman or body double for literally every scene.

Edit: Or they could make it CGI like some others have said, and do what they did in Beowulf.

I wouldn't mind to see Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon in theaters---in real 3D maybe...
