So I'm not a vastly experienced user of Linux or Unix based operating systems, I don't feel anywhere near as comfortable with them as I do with windows but I guess I know enough to get by. I have Ubuntu installed on my laptop that I only have to use every other weekend or so when I'm visiting relatives. I decided to install Steam using Wine, just so I could get a few of my smaller, less resource intensive games to work when I have a few hours to kill.
This all went smoothly and I seem to have a working Steam client that I can use to download and install any of the games linked to my account. I downloaded and installed Football Manager 2011, this is about as intensive as my laptop will take.

Since I installed it I've had it working smoothly a few times but lately I can't seem to get it to run. When I launch the game from Steam, it tells me it is launching and then nothing seems to happen. If I open up System Monitor I can see the fm.exe process (The one for Football Manager) in the list. It is described as "Sleeping". If I have the system monitor open when I launch from Steam I can actually see the creation of this process, it's even created as sleeping. If I try and launch it again I am informed it is already running, the only way I can have another go is to kill or end the process from System Monitor or the terminal.
I know Steam isn't going to run flawlessly on Ubuntu but I've had the game working before and it seems as if nothing has changed, it's just mysteriously given up the ghost.
I know there are a few Linux users on here, just wondered if anyone has had any luck with Steam?
