UESP or Wikia?

No poll...oh well.

UESP is my website of choice for gameplay related content.

UESP, but I think Wikia is more detailed. UESP tends to go "11.2.33.5523.456235.3" whereas wikia says "texttexttext"

I used to be an ardent UESP user for Morrowind and such, but it seems that the wikia generally has more information on Skyrim, and often has more complete articles where the UESP has stubs. Both are viable though.

That said, for quests UESP is generally better, but when I want to look up an NPC or location or faction, the Wikia wins out.

Tradition would make me say the UESP.
However, that site is managed by some ferocious and territorial people and it is really hard to add some information there.
I gave up being a contributor after I noticed about 90% of my additions were reverted without so much as a reason.

Unfortunately that can happen on older information gathering sites, they fall into a rut and people start to think its their own little kingdom.

These days the wikia often has a lot more information, simply due to the fact they welcome new information, not go through it with a fine comb and delete 90%

So the upstart wikia looks promising to me.
I have seen that lore-wise they are often not up to par, but one simple edit often fixes that, no deletes with a snarky comment, or worse, without any comment at all.

I use them both. UESP is good for lore and looking up groups of items or what's in the game. TES wikia isn't as good with the lore, but their pages for quests and items are more detailed and their items have their own separate pages, instead of just being grouped into one page with no information or how to get them.

Yeah. Plus UESP doesn't have ANY pics of each item. I was trying to find the "Adept Hood" on UESP to try and find the base item. UESP gave no info at all. Wikia at least gave a little bit of info, however, none of it help me much.

--------------------

Seriously though, I use UESP for almost everything. It has info all around. Plus the Wikia changes its name every time a new game is released. Morrowind Wiki --> OblivioWiki --> Skyrim Wiki, etc. and has tons of pages that link to themselves...

So far, I've found a majority of my Skyrim help came from the wiki more than the UESP

But in Oblivion's time (since I didn't use the internet much for games in Morrowind's) UESP was where I always went

UESP is by far the better one. But I have to admit, I have gone to wikia a couple times.

I love the look of UESP and I have been using it since I was first introduced to the franchise, excellent gameplay information and basic lore to be had.
Imperial Library for the more advanced lore and browsing through it when I get bored.

UESP might not be as quick to gather info as the wikia, but they are very concise and their editing community isn't as sporadic.

Given some time it'll be more complete as a source of info for Skyrim (and every other TES game) than the wikia.

Wikia started as an Oblivion wiki and then started mixing Skyrim stuff into the Oblivion pages and now seems to be primarily a Skyrim wiki. A bit messy.

UESP remains the best source for TES games in general, and it has more info on things like quest stages/quest IDs, NPC reference IDs, etc. which is very useful for finding workarounds for bugs. And for modders.

Maybe UESP a bit behind on some Skyrim info compared to Wikia but once it catches up it'll probably offer more specific info about everything than Wikia, unless the Wikia people start adding IDs and such info as well. But then you just have a Skyrim wiki with the same Skyrim info as the UESP but without the indepth info about the other games.

I don't think a poll is needed... UESP seems far more popular.
