Ugh, Bad Customization?

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 1:45 pm

Did i say Bad Customization... I meant Bad A$$ Customization.

I have stalked this forum since it came up, and i have stalked all game into since the weeks the game was announced, but i haven't seen any info on Single Gear Pieces. Unlike sets, such as "The Look" "The Bomb" Ect, Are there single pieces of gear? Like Stuff that doesn't fit a specific archetype, and in my thinking, it would be a great addition to customization, because i mean, lets think theirs gonna be a lot of people playing, and a lot of people with standard archetype, where as with single pieces, there would be more variety. Possible i have missed that there are pieces without an archetype name, or maybe they haven't been seen, inform me.

Fun Fact: Every time i typed "Pieces" in this thread, i misspelled it and needed to spell-check it. :violin:

Yes. You do not have to choose an 'outfit'.

well custimization is my favorite part of this game. from what ive seen the resistance have a face mask titled "Cannibal" but it appears there is no jacket to match with it. so im assuming there are diffrent set peices that dont use every part of the custimization. which means were supposed to create something original?

I know that, but thanks for the reply, i didn't clarify in my original post, i mean ADDITIONAL stuff to the set, i know you don't need to pick a SET. I suppose i mean, is there separate stuff you can use to Supplement a set of gear?

The archetypes are just something to build off of. im pretty sure that you can create your own unique character from the start also.

There is at least one video out there with a dev commentary showing off alot of the customization and showing exactly what you are talking about. There are sets then there are alos individual set-less pieces of gear to customize your guy with. Hell even if you look at the packages they have for preordering the game you can see they have individual pieces of gear that you can put on your guy that are not part of a set.

Each jacket, mask, pants, face, etc are separate peices of clOthing, some of which happen to form sets/archetypes. Most of these pieces are non archetype gear so you have a wide range of customization, the archetypes just scratch the surface of what you can do considering each separate piece has multiple colors, textures, and designs to choose from,
So the answer to your question is yes. :)

Every piece of equipment has several variations. For example: here are a few of the variations on http://tully.cghub.com/files/Image/101001-102000/101433/403_stream.jpg

So there might only be a dozen or so archetypes for each side, but there could easily be a hundred or more possible choices for each piece of gear.

Not to mention, there's the pre-order bonus items, which are individual pieces, not part of any archetypes.

Pretty sure there are single-item options in addition to these ones though.

I've asked the Splash Developers this many times and haven't gotten an answer yet

But from what I understand there will be some pieces that do not go in sets with others, like The Goggles face-item for the Resistance, I mean.. There wont be a The Goggles Jacket or a The Goggles Crotch-strap

.. Unless I'm wrong and it do go with those two

Also I've heard about a ''Boiler Suit'' jacket for the Resistance, sounds pretty.. Standalone?
