Ugh...a dead body

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 5:54 pm

I am in Whiterun, having just bought potions from Arcadia's when I am walking back to Breezehome when I hear a girl's voice cry, "Ugh...a dead body!. I looked down, and I see Ulfberth War-Bear lying dead at the foot of the steps to the Drunkard Hunter. I reload the game two more times, and each time Ulfberth War-Bear is dead. I am able to search the character and gain keys to both his home and his shop. (This character has a home? Strange. I can't find it.) The passing guard pays no heed to the dead man. I go to the shop, and I get a message saying that the door is locked and I need to be an adept lockbreaker to open the door. It is 12:00 pm. Of course, I open the shop with the key. The counter is left unattended. I then speak to his wife who shows no concern that her husband is lying dead in the street, and doesn't inquire about his well-being. She is very willing to sell me products, and tell me about the city. I then purchase the iron and steel ingots to improve the dead man's armor and weapons, which I then sell back to the widow. Is this a bug, or is this a random event? (In Fallout 3, when a character dies unexpectedly, as what happen in Megaton, it was chalked up to a bug.)

Why do people keep claiming the two are married? They don't even seem to live in the same house. In the mornings she comes from Wind District and he comes from the inn.

Two people can't work together without being married?

I think honestly sometimes NPCs can be killed by the Physics somehow, I've seen it happen to Stump in Riverwood quite a bit, walk out of a store *Dog yelp* Stump dead on the stairs with no one in sight.
But yes it's just a tiny bit disappointing when spouses don't recognize that their beloved died, unless it's Nazeem who died, then his wife has every reason to live on without being upset.

Tale, according to the book about Whiterun, They ARE married.

I walked into Whiterun and found the fruit vendor, meat vendor, and Nazeem dead in the market. I had run through town as a werewolf earlier but didn't attack anyone. I can only guess that the guards killed them in the chaos. I felt bad for the fruit vendor's daughter and the meat vendor's brother. I teabagged Nazeem.

It's in "The Gentleman's Guide to Whiterun":
Should you need your blade sharpened or your armor hammered, Warmaiden's offers smithing services very near the main gate. The smith is a pretty Nord named Adrianne Avenicci, but she is married to a great hulking brute named Ulfberth War-Bear.

Adrianne is quite fair, but I should not want to find myself being introduced to the keen edge of that husband's war-axe. If married ladies are your preferred sport, then have at, but don't say that you weren't warned!
