Uhm... help? Rather perplexing problem. : IV

I downloaded Oblivion with updates and DLC yesterday, and tinkered around with mods and the like.
Today I decided to start fresh and uninstalled everything, and deleted the items in the C: drive for it. I just tried installing Oblivion GOTY (JUST the vanilla- no updates or any DLC) and although it installs just fine, I get a crash to desktop as soon as it starts o_o
How the hell does that work?

Did you make sure to delete the Oblivion.ini located in My Documents>My Games>Oblivion?

Yeah its a pretty important file, it saves all of the configuration settings of your PC. If anything changes, that file needs to be deleted and it will recreate itself. Glad to see it worked.

Post a dxdiag.
XP: Go to Start->run, type “dxdiag” and hit enter. Click the Save All Information button near the bottom right. This will save a Dxdiag.txt in C:\ by default. Then open the dxdiag.txt and copy/paste the information into your post.

My system would be able to handle the game (it's actually very similar to yours) but I seem to just have the worst luck with software.
Tried turning off water reflections etc in the Oblivion Ini but none of that helped either.

How did you uninstall Oblivion and the mods? The uninstaller with the game only uninstalls the game itself, not added content like mods.
