Who is more charismatic? And who would you support if they both compete for power?

I was just thinking about how Ulfric makes me want to support him, he has a presence and he makes me feel like he fits to be a king. Maxson makes me want to stab him in the face with a dull knife. In term of making interesting characters, there is a character that you would love to hate and character you just hate. I think I don't like Maxson too much since he's way too much of a Mary Sue in term of his accomplishments, fighting off Deathclaw by himself with just a knife, becoming an Elder at the age of 20, etc. Ulfric spends years studying with the Greybeards then give up the life up on the mountain to fight for his land. Hungry for power or not (I don't think so), he has a reason to fight for what he believes in. With Maxson, he feels a bit more generic, he hates synths with a passion but there is no backstory, so he just hates synths because they're synths, of course there's the replacement by the Institute and stuffs like that, but it feels like Maxson lacks some kind of personal reasons that make people identify with him. Maxson is cool and all, but I always feel like the leaders in the game lack the presence. Desdemona is also suffered from the charismatic department, these people don't give off the feeling that make you want to support their cause, maybe it's just me. lol

Theyre entirely different universes (aside from easter eggs)

Anyway, I'd support Ulfric. Maxson is, to me, very boring and like you said, what little we know about his backstory makes him out to be a "Larry stu". Bethesda really should have given us more backstory on why Maxson hates synths and what they have done to him or the brotherhood. Did a synth kill someone close to him? Was his best friend or lover a synth that turned on him? Did a synth burn his toast or steal his last Nuka cola? We may never know. Maxson hates synths because blah blah blah flesh is flesh blah blah blah the enemy blah.

Ulfric gets my vote. Where is the poll?

I think the better question is which one of them has the more badass name.


Arthur Maxson is pretty metal, but Ulfric Stormcloak sounds like a Viking god who's prepared to smite some mofos with a giant electrical axe.

In before people call them both Nazis (Seriously, I'm wondering how many BOS haters are also Imperial supporters. There's some serious similarities when the haters compare the two)

On-topic: I like both but I give my points to Ulfric. He's definitely a lot more charmismatic than Maxson and I'm definitely more interested in following Ulfric than Maxson. However, out of all the faction leaders, Maxson is definitely my favorite. Des is a backstabbing, short-sighted, fanatical POS who I gladly kill every playthrough, Preston has the personality of cardboard, and Father is a sociopathic [censored].

Maxson acknowledges my actions, genuinely believes his ideas, and brought the BOS from the slump that it was in after Maxson. Plus, the BOS has the characters I like the most.

This is a thread that is 50% about Ulfric Stormcloak. Erotic should go without saying.

I've seen quite a few crossover fans. Though I've also noticed some Imps who like Maxson, which always surprises me.


Anyway, I pretty much agree with everything you said here. Ulfric gets my vote by being the best character Bethesda's made since Morrowind.

I joined the Stormcloaks because I liked Ulfric, I joined BoS because I liked BoS (this chapter anyway). So, I guess that means I'd pick Ulfric. Maxson, while I never felt like stabbing him, it felt that the game relied on telling you about his character and past through others and alot of it feels at least partly fake or exaggerated (seriously, killing a Deathclaw at 14 single-handedly?). With Ulfric, you can talk to him personally and get the feeling he's genuine.

I would never support Ulfric. I view him as a tragic figure that made a mistake, then tried to make up for it by making an even bigger mistake. I won't help him dig his hole deeper.
