Lately I have been seeing some strange goings on in this game, some players seemingly impossible to kill.

today I encountered it up close and it was just like WTF?????

One guy, a rank 50 player walked on to the crash-site with 4 players around the pod, they all emptied their mag's into him, including me from a medium distance with a 120 round mag, after he dropped about 4 to 6 players I moved in still ratting bullets into him, all of them pinging off him, he turned round in a mass of sparks and just killed me, his health and armour was still 100%.

I guess he activated max nanosuit, the 10 kill streak that makes you invincible for 20 seconds or 30 if you have retriever.

That does not make you invincible.

Maximum nanosuit does make the player invincible for everything else than thrown objects and interactive stuff like rotor of a helicopter.

Possible God mode hack?

Maximum Nanosuit, 10-kill killstreak perk. The player becomes immune to all damage for around ~20-25 seconds (longer with Retriever).
They can only be killed by stuff like thrown poles, kicked cars, etc.
