The face is just a face, nothing special, and besides Bethesda saying they lead up to LR, there are various mentions of the Divide and the other Courier in DM, HH, and OWB.

This! Lot's of mentions of the LR dlc in the other 3. Also in the grand scheme of things, the LR storyline seems to take place right before you start the final battle in the main game. Though it is entirely up to you in which order you choose to play.

Thanks! How's the Sierra Madre Casino?
It's kind of like playing a different game all of a sudden. Different atmosphere, different dangers, different enemies and different equipment. Very little free-roaming and a much greater emphasis on puzzle-solving. Lots of dying.

The big trouble is that, unlike other DLCs, you can't come with your own equipment. The only way to prepare yourself is by choosing perks oriented towards crafting, repairing and survival in general. You will find adequate weapons for all categories except Explosives, so if your combat skills are mainly Explosives-oriented you MUST have the Mad Bomber perk. You start off with an Energy weapon but the ammo for it will be relatively scarce, so make your shots count.

You're stripped of your inventory when you enter?

yes. If you didn't get stripped then the enemies would just become bullet sponges like in OWB. Too many bullets to kill one target. But it's alright. The lack of equipment adds to the atmosphere.

So there's a special weapon you get that makes it so they're not bullet sponges?

You find a grand total of 20 to 25 grenades in the entire DLC if you disarm every grenade bouquet there is, and there's no renewable source. Mines and demolition charges aren't terribly useful as weapons. Gas bombs don't work very well against Ghost People, and they're too heavy to carry around. Basically, if you want a decent supply of thrown Explosives, you need Mad Bomber.

TME- What they mean is that if you could come to Dead Money with powerful weapons from the Mojave, the game developers would need to scale up enemy toughness accordingly and make them "bullet sponges".

In Dead Money you get weapons optimized for dealing with the Ghost People- most of them have a bonus critical chance or bonus damage to limbs.

in OWB? Yes but its a melee weapon. It has a special ability that does extra damage to robots. For the other DLCs any weapons you normally use will be good.

In DM you have to use the weapons they give you in the DLC. Enemies aren't hard its just that you have to conserve ammo and supplies. So fight smarter not harder.
