Ultimate Edition Question

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 2:01 pm

I haven't played any of the DLC's and i'm going to pick up the Ultimate Edition soon. How is the DLC integrated? When I start a new game will I be bombarded with extra quests from the start? Can I do the DLC at level 1?

  • You will get a notice that each DLC has been loaded, level cap increased by 5 (for each DLC), and a quest marker for each DLC start.
  • You can do the DLC at level 1, yes; but they will be far more difficult than needed to be.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. So each DLC raises the cap by 5? Anything else included along with the DLC packs? On the back of the box I read something about being able to explore a zoo now?

The DLCs share story connections (some NPCs will comment on different aspects), so my tip is to play first Honest Hearts, then Old World Blues, then Dead Money and Lonesome Road last. :)
All of the DLCs are amazing! Great writing, great characters, nice new items/weapons. And yes, each DLC raises the cap by 5 levels, to level 50 as the max cap.

Not sure about the Zoo part. There's no zoo in any of the DLC's to my knowledge. lol

The zoo you are talking about is zion national park. All the DLCs act like a node system. You enter the area of the dlc and you will automatically travel to an newly discovered land.

Is Zion a new area to explore? If you the DLC's are separate areas do you have to fast travel to them? Are they just markers on the map you click on?

They are markers on the map similar to how vaults are markers on the map. You walk there and you have to "enter a door" to travel to the new DLC areas. In honest hearts you have to talk to a guy inside a cave. For OWB you "talk" to a catellite. Things like that.

yes. The courier stash helps you out in the beginning. I love them.

Courier's Stash is amazing at the beginning. The Ultimate Edition is great, I may not be the biggest Dead Money fan but all 4 DLC's are well written.

Yes, but each DLC except for Gun Runner's Arsenal and The Courier's Stash (equipment DLC's included in the U.E) add +5 to your level cap. Meaning your cap will be 50 with the Ultimate Edition as soon as you start up.

Nice, so that many more perks

On the back of the box it says, "Beyond The Wasteland: New Vegas is more expansive than ever with the Sierra Madre Casino, Zion National Park, Big MT research crate and the treacherous Divide now open for exploring."

What's that?

What is what? If you're asking what the areas are or what it means; each DLC (aside from Courier's Stash and Gun Runner's Arsenal) adds a new area to the game.
  • Dead Money - Sierra Madre
  • Honest Hearts - Zion National Park
  • Old World Blues - Big MT
  • Lonesome Road - The Divide

You have to save often. Even more saves will be made in the Sierra Madre.

The Sierra Madre has a love hate relationship with most players on this forum, mainly because people tend to die... a lot.

dead money is my least favorite dlc, the plot and characters are probably my favorite though. Just be prepared to have your head asploid! alot...i mean alot. The other dlc are much better, zion is buetiful, owb is funny and an awesome place to explore. LR is mostly combat but introduces a sweet dreadlocked guy, i'd do it last as the other dlc ties into it

Nothing changes if you do LR first, the DLC don't interact with each other. :shakehead:
