I would assume that both you and Ulysses were both in the army and were stationed at the military base in the divide. they both could have been officers in the army and had the codes to the missile(s) housed in the base. but instead they went into cryogenic freezing and were asleep for a very long time. its possible they both woke up, or just the courier woke up and he left. now at some point the courier could have been knocked out and received amnesia while trying to cross the divide. now Ulysses is looking for him so they can possibly do something related to the base, fix the divide, try and help rebuild the world.

.this next one is not mine, but i did find it and it was interesting.

the divide is probably housing a military base with thousands if u.s army soldiers frozen ready to rebuild the wasteland back to it former glory the USA the commonwealth. That even the enclave or the brotherhood don't know? due to the fact of the separation of military post war of 2077 which end but was counitue in nuclear exchanging seven month later on October 23, 2077

A long time ago Ulysses and The Currier were in a cafeteria and The Currier took the last piece of pie and made a political mark to justify it changing Ulysses forever. Unfortunately for The Currier Ulysses extremely loves pie and held a grudge over losing that piece. Believing that he had moved on losing his wife only reminded himself of that one piece of pie and his hatred resumed but also remember the political remark The Currier made and that made him realize that if there was a better nation then all the pie and people would be safe.

Seeing the Currier who he had assumed would have been killed by some raider or bandit for his pie stealing ways he gives the package to him knowing that his last piece of pie would finally be avenged.

And that is their relationship and I still haven't been able to close my mouth since hearing that stupid long winded speech from Ulysses. (joke)

As I mentioned a few months back, the courier made love to Ulysses in the mouth of Dinky the Dinosaur in Novac. While Ulysses was asleep, the Courier who was satisfied and pleased, left to venture the Mojave Wasteland. When Ulysses awoke, he felt used and humiliated. He cried and soon came under the wing of the Toaster and took to heart the teachings of "burning the world with fire." What he wants from the courier is to know if he (Ulysses) was dumped for Benny. Outcomes are dependent on what you tell him.

Who said that the Courier or Ulysses were gay? He CAN'T be gay, because what if the Courier is a girl?

I'm pretty sure it's going to end up being them being previous lovers, whether the character is a boy or not. If the player is a girl, the data from the beginning of the game will link with the data in LR, so you guys will be ex-lovers. If it's a boy, the same thing. Except, well, he'd actually be gay. Therefore, Ulysses is obviously bisixual.

I think, The courier and ulysess will cross paths........Because he was originally suppose to take the package but turned it down....thats where you came in.........I think he will warn you what an terrible task it is...Because, I think he knew it was rigged and thats when he dropped the task

Its not about in the DLC (He has already been comfirmed to be in it) but before the game even started.

He decided against delivering the package, that's how you got that bullet in your head, so he didn't and wouldn't warn you about anything terrible.

there might not be a "relationship". we might have just met him once before, when we did that thing in the divide that made Ulysses want to track us down and the whole chip thing was probably just him trying to figure out if we can survive the divide or if it was just dumb luck.

The Courier delivered a bomb that destroyed Ulysses hometown. Then that made Ulysses mad, he wants to kill the Courier so ULYSSES can become his hometown hero. But the Courier ends up winning the battle therefore earning the trophy; Hometown Hero because it's the name of the QUEST!

Why is my first image of the Courier delivering a huge nuke the scene from Spongebob where they are pushing Bikini Bottom? Seriously, a bomb that could ruin the Divide like the stories claim would have to be one serious bomb >_>

Best theory I have read thus far. Rather than delivering a bomb, I suspect that the Couier delivered "something" that tragically affected Ulysses. I like the notion that Ulysses is the hometown hero and we interrupt whatever it is he is up to.

i hope it dosnt give away too much because i always play the courier as the lone wanderer and james(wanderers dad) was the chosen one. dont hate on my role play

There could be a number of relationships between these two people. All everybody knows is that it's going to be a big suprise and a shock.
The biggest shock anyone could imagine is if Ulysses was actually a chick ..

well, considering that two of the achievements are:

Detonated all the warheads in the Divide

&

Decided the fate of all the Divide Dwellers

it seems that setting off the bombs will be one option......
